All these non sequiturs! Mental illness is a prison in its own right. I do not think there is any greater message to take away from this. There but for the grace of [insert deity or whatever of your choice] go all of us.

Because of his complexion or something? I can only guess at what you mean, because, as so often, it just seems like a cheap throwaway line.

ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

Did you just use your 13-digit EFT number as the reference (the site asks for 16 or 18 digits, I can't quite remember)? I haven't been able to get an answer from the RewardPay people, which makes me hesitate before sending tens of thousands of dollars through them.

    Will Hobart change?

You have basically made my point for me: there is little point in treating accommodation as location-independent and homogenous and demanding that it be priced accordingly. I guess it just never occurred to me to seek out a national park and then complain about the opening hours (work/life...

    Will Hobart change?

We scattered our son's ashes at Friendly Beaches and go back to the area at least once a year. To use an expression I learnt recently, it is what it is. Very happy for it to stay that way. If you can book the same virtually anywhere else in Tassie, then perhaps you should book there.

    OOPS[Maybe I'm a Fool- Thread best avoided]Ta Qantas...coughS!(Award pointsDOUBLED)

If you had a Zone 3 trip and added on 2496 miles, you could conceivably take it up to Zone 5, which would mean an extra 24,000 points. The same for going from Zone 5 to Zone 7 or from 6 to 8. So in that sense the DXB-BUD leg may have appeared to be 24,000 points. But in isolation it would...

It was not 24,000 yesterday, I am quite confident of that.

    OOPS[Maybe I'm a Fool- Thread best avoided]Ta Qantas...coughS!(Award pointsDOUBLED)

24,000 would be a J award for 601~1200 miles, 50,000 would be for 2,401~3600 miles. Perhaps those coughs at Qantas moved your desired two cities further apart without warning you?

I haven't noticed any changes, having just booked four European award flights ex DXB. Could you please give us the precise route?

Call EK. And perhaps offer them some of your thoughts on the Middle East and Islam while you're at it.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

No need to be so offensive, in my opinion. I perhaps do not have as much experience with award flights as you, but I am quite sure I have more flying experience in SQ F. We were doing more than providing an alternative hypothesis.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I think it is quite possible the passengers would not know where the person who had so kindly moved for them was sitting. I have been thanked once before when I did not actually do anything.

What Does Everyone Do Here ??

I work as an adjunct professor at a Japanese university teaching human rights and certain aspects of law and international relations. I am also in the process of divesting my Kanto/Kansai property portfolio, including three cigar bars. Hard to compete with shisha bars and hookah lounges these...

JAL 788 Business 'Sky Suite' DME to NRT

I have repeatedly found JAL and ANA crew the best in the world. I do happen to have Japanese, but have frequently travelled with people who do not and have noticed little difference regarding approach. The things they spend time worrying about are quite incredible. I cannot remember the precise...

    QF-EK broken promises

For whatever reason, and you all pretty much seem to know the reason, there just is not all that much pork in Dubai. And I do not think Emirates is too worried about losing the pork/bacon maniac crowd, they have perhaps called in the quants and actuaries and concluded thus. Apart from just the...
