As VA platinum and therefore to certain extend for Gold, the free seat selection seems to be only only on the VA flight and not on other QR marketed flights. So for example when I tried a dummy booking to CDG from Perth, the only seats I could choose from my flight "choice" was the VA operated...

I did find and followed a dummy booking from Perth to Paris CDG for Jan 26. Cost is 7.5k AUD return but as usual absolutely no seat selection on the QR sectors in biz so outbid the four sectors I looked at it was only the PER-DOH flight where seat selection was possible. It's rather pathetic...

Yep a nonsense. VA think we are stupid! Plenty of flights around mid sept to Europe and UK in biz for around 7,000 AUD.

Yep. Awful isn't it? It was the veg green curry yesterday (it being just as you say tea, 😂, that was possibly the worst thing I have seen for a long time in any lounge. A nice salad set even with cold meats surely is not asking for much. Pathetic and all the lounges of VA are the same.

Yhe The veg curry right now at VA MEL is sauce!! Yuck. Yes but the QF business lounges tend to be better don't they....at least they are when I fly QF. Oh and not a chicken wrap in sight at VA MEL.....just as bad a a SYD frankly.

Yeah I guess my point is with the changes etc, it's probably going to save hundreds of dollars just flying with whoever, and buying from vendors even if they are more expensive. cant really agree with you regarding the food though inside the lounge. Soup aside, the rest is just poor slop.
