The Velocity Status Run Master thread

I wonder if this means 40 SCs on Qantas once HA joins OW.

Qantas Club member access to American Airlines lounge

The business lounge is a oneworld lounge so oneworld rules apply. Yes I know Qantas operate it but it’s technically not Qantas owned. As a result Qantas club members get access as if it’s an associated lounge.

Qatar Airways to acquire 25% of Virgin Australia

Some new perks announced today including seat selection, upgrade options and baggage benefits plus an odd US$20 voucher but only if booked on the VA flight number. https://www.pointhacks.com.au/news/virgin-australia-doha-flights-dining-voucher-velocity-benefits/

Luggage allowance for domestic JL to international QF

Nope, QF extra allowances (that aren't part of the wider oneworld benefits) such as QF Silver or QF Club only apply to Qantas operated flights. Being the same ticket QF becomes the most significant carrier and therefore their luggage allowance applies to both flights which is 40kg for business...

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

I haven't spoken to anyone in an Australian call center post covid so I'm kind of surprised they still exist. I've now got enough SCs to retain Plat through to Aug 2026 and then will let it drop off to nothing.

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

Nope as points upgrades aren't linked to award space and rather are space available in the week leading up to departure. If the flight is really empty it'll clear far out otherwise it could be right up until the gate if you've ticked that option.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Sure I kind of agree but that's missing the a big part of a loyalty program. I think I've shared this article before: https://edition.cnn.com/travel/airline-loyalty-programs-points-2025-changes/index.html Some interesting comments from Air France/KML about gamification and this is effectively...

Qantas Travel Money changing to Qantas Pay - May 2024

A new BSB I wonder if that means a move away from EML?

QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

I'm sure I've spoken to Hobart staff who've been working from home in the past.

Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Wow some of the earnings to see on paper are shocking: This is a Brisbane to Sydney, the lite fare earns a massive 4 SCs: I think we might also have a winner as the current sale from Sydney to Byron has fares for $49 earning a huge 2 SCs No surprises it also swings the other way, a SYD-MEL...

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

New details here: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/book-a-trip/flights/skytrans.html My flight in a couple of weeks now operated for Qantas by SkyTrans. Notably no classic rewards next year when SkyTrans fully takes over.

Does QF forget they also had flights stopping in Darwin during Covid?

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Mentioned in several posts including #1 and #4 Really not just a “Brisbane” deal as you can travel anywhere on the TransLink SEQ network to DFO for 50 cents. In my testing it adds about 30-45 minutes to the total journey.

Nope, and I couldn't clearly see a reader either.

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Today in Brisbane the train is not operational and so the rail replacement bus is operating. A first for me at Roma St (Stop 125) they are asking people to touch on to a reader thats on the roadside before boarding the bus. It was pouring down rain so I just shrugged my shoulders and got on like...

China Airlines reward seats using Qantas points

China Airlines keeps their website very up to date (when they changed lounge in BNE website changed same day), it seems they are still using the ITA website: https://calec.china-airlines.com/bvct/atairport?country=us&locale=en

Qantas' Impending Change to Tokyo Flight Schedule

Sure could but at the same time I don't think they're too concerned, slot is open to an AU based carrier who can operate it. At this stage we're left with just VA (who's now passed) and the QF group both of which are the only two unless you look at Skytrans (and their new A319) or some other...
