If it’s just an earning to QF points then fine say that. I saw it and started frantically searching but found this thread and it turns out to be nothing much.
Never done this but have my first one coming up later this year. Often the cost and availability is limited and I’m not sure if it’s an Air NZ issue or a QF one.
I guess this is the case on all TT or short haul flights leaving Australia (Bali) included.
As mentioned upthread I got a few BNE-CHC flights on Air NZ for $134 one way thanks to a Webjet/Afterpay promo. Currently taxes on the route are $158.73 so I’ve paid less than the taxes. On the return...
When the price is often a quarter of what QF/NZ want then I will happily put up with it. On the JQ routes across the Tasman I take, lounge access is possible thanks to QF status and I pay to select the front seat.
To be fair it matches the JQ policy.
This is another good point with works deluxe gone. Once upon at time it was a mini euro business and even came with lounge access… not even offered now.
I agree that Air NZ is often my last choice across the Tasman and I had no intention of booking them 4x times across this year (the rest I’ve booked are on QF/JQ) but when the price is right then I’ll book Air NZ. During a recent Webjet/Air NZ promo I booked a few BNE-CHC for $134 one way...
A somewhat on topic data point, I flew AA72 recently and had my QF points in the account before landing! I don’t think I’ve ever had that before unless on QF metal.
This is going to annoy some but I’d call this a bit of false marketing.
Those on VA operated flights aren’t getting lounge access and it’s just those on a VA marketed QR operated for VA flight that get access (noting none of the arrangements are different to existing ones).
I’d actually support them allowing someone in J burning multiple vouchers to get into the F lounge, yes crowding does become an issue but at the same time there are many who fly always fly J have a QF or similar credit card and don’t get use of the vouchers.
What I’m hearing is that soft benefits like priority boarding just require a card and nothing more. I’m flying on non VA codeshares but have VA status so I might put that one to the test ;)

I am arriving off an earlier domestic flight with a shorter 2 hr connection but should have time in the F lounge. Can guest +1 on a QF flight number (operating carrier not an issue).
Nope both nights.
16th:
Ibis HK Central with $65 copayment
Novotel CityGate with $76 copayment
17th:
Novotel CityGate with $76 copayment
Both aren’t worth it.
I flew back from Lord Howe yesterday. Ground and onboard experience is Qantas but the aircraft is in an all white livery and the crew are Skytrans.
I had a chat to the crew both ways and it seems they’ve relocated some of their Cairns staff to Sydney whilst also hiring some local Sydney staff...
