    AccorPlus China

Nothing. You can buy each all China card twice per year. If someone wants to buy the 30 nights twice and get platinum without ever stepping foot in a hotel then no issues.

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

An interesting thing I just spotted that the old QF dash 8's have been purchased by Avmax (a canadian leasing company). They are then leasing them back to Skytrans to operate the LDH flights. There was an early article shared above which didn't make sense mentioning 1x Q300 and 15 Q300s but...

Skytrans to Operate Lord Howe Island Route from March 2026 - Take over from Qantaslink

All of the Dash 8 200s are now operated by Skytrans under their AOC. This was the last flight operated by QantasLink under their own AOC (well that of Eastern Airlines). Between now and end of the transition period QF still manage the bookings (flights still sold only as QF flight numbers)...

Virgin Australia and Air NZ form new partnership

This is expected. It's the Strata lounge in Auckland and the Virgin lounge on the Gold Coast or Adelaide (whereas in the latter two Air NZs own status passengers are sent to the QF Club), all other airports are the Air NZ operated lounge where it exists.

How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

I’ve stayed at both and mostly the same however some nights the price difference is so minimal (less than $20) so I’d pick the Novotel as the rooms are a bit nicer. The kiosks work ok but don’t issue drink vouchers (as last time they wanted a paper voucher) or give information on status...

Anyone used WAYMO driverless cars in Los Angeles?

I used it twice recently in LA. Annoyingly it didn’t cover LAX and its limited to route off freeways. Nope, no driver and no option to even tip in the app. I found in San Francisco the price was a bit more expensive than Uber/Lyft whereas in LA it was cheaper by a couple of dollars. Same as...

    Free Qantas Club Membership?

Was the gold earned during the Covid status match promo? If so QF Club was initially offered until the criteria was matched and upon dropping off gold the remaining amount of QF club still exists.

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

It’s a rather normal process made even easier if you have an Australian drivers license on you. You’ll find that if there aren’t many around you’ll be through without much delay (they know you’re coming). Every airline can uplift passengers back to Australia without a passport (provided they...

Velocity Status Benefits on Partner Airlines

This is somewhat surprising, often these things are the other way around where priority check in is granted but lounge access denied.

Escape Lounge at Cairns Airport International Terminal

Escape lounge have seemingly copy pasted that from their UK lounge pages. UK airports have a lot more issues with passengers especially those wanting to have a few drinks.

    Qantas First Lounge in Singapore

No need to head to T4, can check in at Jewel but it must be at least 3 hours prior to the flight. As mentioned above can easily head to T1 security and I’ve never had any pushback with a kiosk printed boarding pass from Jewel.

Article: Guide to Lounge Access When Flying Jetstar

You might actually be eligible for lounge access on a JQ J flight without using a pass. On the Qantas website it mentions that classic rewards can use Qantas operated lounges. Yes no issues. Once you're in the international terminal you can access any of the lounges you're eligible for.

It’s got better, you need to download and use WeChat to scan the Accor code, after that you can login using normal Accor username/password and purchase.

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

It sounds like you are chasing status points not nights? If the latter Platinum can be gained/retained quite easily through Accor plus and all plus China.
