    KL Transport

I do this run all the time and use a limo driver on a regular basis, for the same cost as the usual ones. I stay at the CP too. If you have big bags, then this is a good option and saves futzing around on the KLIA Expres and then having to get a voucher at Sentral and then taxi to CP. Depending...

    travel agent wanted

Most travel agents now charge for local travel services and some even request an account fee if they are to quote, as there are no commissions for domestic bookings in Oz. My agent charges $25 a booking, less than the $33 Qantas charges (by phone). I have a good agent who I have been with for...

It's like having the feast AFTER the wedding ceremony :)

Scheduled flight departure and arrival times

I speak at a lot of conferences, and I have noticed a trend now to instal "check in" gates to the room, especially where conference attendance provides CPD points or similar, and leaving before 20 minutes or so are up means no points, but there is sometimes a mini exodus mid-way through (I am...

Scheduled flight departure and arrival times

I often remain amazed at how people can not make the plane. Cases where they were in transit come to mind. Also how often it happens on the shortest segments, like SIN-KUL where the delay time ends up being as long as the actual flight. No making up that time en route!!!

Scheduled flight departure and arrival times

I understand that there is a 15 minute leeway for "on time", and that's the case in the U.S. For Sydney trains it's about the same (and they still run late)!!!

    Rough landings?

I was told by one of the Syd Airport strategists they didn't instal the system to save money and on the basis that they would only use it maybe 5 times a year, when it was foggy, and for that they were happy to divert planes until it burned off.

How to spend a day in LA - your thoughts

I enjoy the Manhattan/Redondo Beach area for some nice places to eat and look out onto the beach as well as some OK shopping.

    Rough landings?

I have been in the coughpit a lot pre 9/11 and mostly takeoffs and landings were on auto. Generally it saves fuel and is smoother, etc, and I understand is mostly "company policy", although it's less fun for the pilots. In fact the new planes they are designing now will only have a pilot and a...

    QF31 SYD-SIN this afternoon

I as always stand humbly corrected.

    QF31 SYD-SIN this afternoon

As the 747-400 goes on to LHR I would think you have a fair chance of it being kitted out.

    Rough landings?

Don't forget, they still have to "break" the "vacumn" to get out of the air and onto the ground (I am sure a technocrat will correct my explanation), so should expect a bump. A lot also depends on conditions, cross winds, etc at the time. Some runways, like MNL are bumpy already, which...

    Upgrade to "U"

I use the KVS tool and find it very helpful, and have been able to look, book and upgrade simultaneously!

    Op Ups from N/O/Q

N, O & Q are referred to as "Not On Qantas" and represent the fare classes that can't be upgraded with points (Including rededeals). Seems like some op ups aren't out of the picture however!

    Benefits of Platinum Status

IMHE I have found that of the OW airlines, CX has most consitently recognised me as a top-level member and provided upgrades on a regular basis. I have flown BA a lot, for example, who "say" they welcome, but experience is they are only interested in their own. It is possible that CX treats...

How Many QF destinations have YOU been to?

My experience on the route only goes back to 1992 and it may well have been different before then, but I am fairly sure (read someone will prove me wrong) since then! Malaysia has tried several times over the years to get QF to use them as a hub (rather than SIN) - to no avail.

    Rejected Application

You can apply to Baycorp Advantage for a copy of your credit report. Free takes about 2 week, instant has a fee. I suspect you have too many enquiries in one year (more than 5 is a guide) as well as other posted suggestions.

How Many QF destinations have YOU been to?

QF 31/32 used to be SYD-KUL-SIN and return. Used to catch it a lot from the old Subang airport - 767 aircraft. As I recall, arrived KUL mid-afternoon, returned to KUL from SIN about 6pm and left for SYD about an hour later. I am pretty sure it never went on to ATH.
