Just to reply to myself and for future reference, the FHR credit at The W Brisbane:

Booked: Wonderful Room
Rate: Amex FHR

Arrived at noon to take advantage of the "noon check-in when available" benefit. Was initially offered a high floor Wonderful, but I had checked in the app and noted that...
Just following on from @andye 's reply - I'm looking at booking a night at The W Brisbane. Does anyone have experience with using the FHR credit for parking, and if so, whether the credit can be spread across multiple types of spend (e.g. to pay for parking, as well as some food)?
At the risk of going off-topic, I was thinking of buying a Tesla, but the experience from one of my family members was that there was no option to pay for it by card (except maybe the initial small deposit). Has anyone bought a Tesla using their Plat Charge and can enlighten me on the process...
True - I was just using it as a more extreme example of how (imo) business class product quality is heavily influenced by equipment, rather than specifically making a recommendation for that particular leg of an OWA.
To a large extent, these are subjective rankings, plus there would also be significant variation based on the specific equipment you were on.
For example, I would say Qatar is pretty good, but if you were flying on an A330-200 the decision is less compelling. Similarly, on a route like SYD-AKL...
Flew SYD-BNE on QF yesterday evening. Heaps of delayed (1+ hr) flights to all destinations.
At one point the lounge announced that they were "running out of gates" (?!) and to try to get to the gate as soon as boarding is called. When we got onto our flight, the pilot said they landed on time...
With respect to your first point, are you proposing something like the following on the OWA? (I know the below is a bit of a 'waste' and doesn't maximise stops/flights hah)
SIN-SYD
SYD-LHR (e.g. on BA16)
LHR-LAX
LAX-NRT
NRT-SIN
I'll let others answer the question, but I think that's scenario...
I've got a 4950 point target. But as with others, it's not clear if this applies for one of my cards (if so, where can I find out which one?), or if spend across all of my QF direct earn cards is counted.
A family member flew from YVR on QF76 last month and was permitted access to the Skyteam lounge prior to boarding. Perhaps that does not contradict the "including all international lounges operated by partner airlines for Qantas passengers." part of the page as the Vancouver Skyteam lounge is...
As a bit of a wild card, as they have only just informed you of the cancellation/delay and the flight is only 7 days away, do the compensation provisions of EU261 (or the UK post-brexit equivalent) apply?
AFAIK, the rules used to kick in if you were informed of a cancellation/delay less than 14...
I usually check the wiki article for the airport and look at the “airlines and destinations” list. Of course you need to know which ones are oneworld, but you memorise them pretty quickly once booking a OWA!
Update for my situation:
Qualified silver 28/3
Qualified gold 4/5
Received silver bag tag (x1) 19/5. No physical card was provided.
Still nothing for gold….
Totally agree with everything you've said!
Planning redemptions can be very time consuming. In terms of planning long haul reward flights in the past, I have occasionally spent longer than the actual flight duration researching potential routes, experimenting with dates and looking at...
Unclear - I guess there may also be more reward seats to Europe available once QR gets onboard officially.
In any case, I was able to find a return business class seat from AU to EU leaving within 3 months - you might just need to a bit creative/flexible
I did, but a little less now. When I joined, the free promotion was a free Premium subscription (usually $165/month) - you still needed to pay the credit card fees. I currently prefer using Yak Pay, as I don't spend enough to justify the paid pay.com.au plans. Comparing the free plan level, YP...
