ATO (tax office) payments by credit card

I never used Beem for cc/Bpay - always been using it as an 'instant payment' option. I know it's pretty similar to PayID now, but I do like the option of sending payment requests to people through the app (e.g. splitting the bill after lunch).

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

We stayed here immediately pre-COVID (December 2019) and thought it was great too. Unfortunately, we didn’t plan our meals and didn’t know about the Balkan restaurant, so we ended up at a nearby (just across the street IIRC) branch of an American restaurant instead.

    Batik Air commencing ADL-KUL

Looking at some OTAs, it looks like the route is listed as being flown by Boeing 737-800s EDIT: I think you're right (and the OTA is incorrect). Expertflyer also shows OD122 as being operated by a 7M8.

UA additions to AKL/CHC and BNE

Apparently the AAIF did chip in after all:

UA additions to AKL/CHC and BNE

Interesting- I imagine UA aren’t getting any further govt funding to ramp up (otherwise there would be a media release from the govt about that) so perhaps they are seeing enough demand for this route to stand on its own feet.

UA additions to AKL/CHC and BNE

Maybe it's the dreamer in me but if BNE-LAX is ineligble for funding, perhaps they may opt for BNE-ORD. I haven't heard much from QF about this route recently. Interesting to note that the Brisbane Airport CEO was quoted as saying this in April 2022: In the end UA was the one that brought San...

Thanks, but I’m not flying Jetstar this time around :) Good to know, thanks! I might swing by and see how we go in the first instance then!

    Singapore lounges - How busy?

EDIT: Apologies mods, I thought I was posting in the "Airline Lounges" part of the forum, I'm not sure how I stuffed it to post in "Destination Guides"! Could this be moved to the right spot? Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, but all I could find were threads from many years ago...

Emirates Ordered To Pay $8468 USD For Failing To Deliver Advertised Quality Of Business Class

Depends on your definition of "putting in". The proportion of people submitting a upgrade request (successful or not), perhaps you're right. But unless you have status, your chances of getting an upgrade to business on a widebody-operated flight (except maybe transcon) is slim. Effectively...

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

Yep that’s right. Comparing the price on a room on the hotel website (with a cross check against Expedia) against the price on Amex travel.

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

We did a similar thing - booked Amex FHR at the Langham (Melbourne). Rack rate was the same as Amex Travel for us too, except Amex Travel had (has?) a "stay 2 nights, get the 3rd free" offer. This, plus the free breakfast and $US100 credit blew any other booking options out of the water.

How does Accor treat you as an Elite guest?

It sounds like the staff training here hasn’t changed since we last stayed a while back. This hotel is on my wife’s blacklist after being told off by reception for “jumping the queue” when we dared line up at the Accor member counter; with no apology after we showed them we were allowed to do so.

Changes to how you use your $450 Travel Credit

Depends on the hotel. I’ve found deals on Amex travel that were cheaper than other sites (including some “stay X nights, get 1 free”). If they gave you a credit with no strings attached, then that would effectively just be an annual fee reduction. I don’t think Amex will be in a hurry to do that.
