ATR's being removed entirely from QLD routes from July

Flying 737s MEL-MQL and BNE-GLT sounds like a good way to send your airline broke but maybe if you take into account the savings from ditching E90s and AT72s from BNE, plus all the associated infrastructure, VA will be better off overall.

ATR's being removed entirely from QLD routes from July

It's certainly impressive that VA couldn't make the ATRs work - the aircraft have such a reputation for being a money-maker! I wonder if the lease terms made them too expensive to compete against the little Dash 8s but even then they should've cleaned the floor with the big Dash 8s. In BNE I...

LAX Update: EK Lounge for WP; EY lounge for Business & SG - from March 21

Thanks for the report, Dale. It sounds like quite a mess on the ground and it'd be good to hear about any additional compensation. IMO that's not good enough for a J experience out of a major international airport.

LAX Update: EK Lounge for WP; EY lounge for Business & SG - from March 21

That's true and wasn't there a thread asking for ideas to get extra points? Discount Y BNE-LAX-BNE is ~$1000. It's 7200 miles one-way so in discount Y you'll get 3600 points plus a 100% WP bonus each leg, plus lounge compensation of 20,000 gives you a total haul of 34,400 points at 2.9c per...

LAX Update: EK Lounge for WP; EY lounge for Business & SG - from March 21

Hmm so if you're SG/WP on NZ1, you get access to the lovely *A lounge but if you're on VA6, you get nothing even in J!

LAX Update: EK Lounge for WP; EY lounge for Business & SG - from March 21

Well done and well-deserved IMO. I wouldn't have thought there'd be too many airlines operating out of LAX TBIT that don't offer lounge access to elite and J pax.

LAX Update: EK Lounge for WP; EY lounge for Business & SG - from March 21

Wait so there's no lounge access in LAX if flying VA6, the Saturday morning departure? I certainly didn't read that in any of the material announcing the new arrangements and it's not mentioned in the international lounge finder. That's pretty poor form. Me too!

VA Gold lounge access - EY metal, KLM ticket?

If you want to use your VA lounge privileges, you need a VA- or a partner-issued ticket for a VA- or partner- operated flight. Have you considered the KLM ticket and a Priority Pass membership? The cheapest package is US$89 to join (via pointhacks) plus US$27 per visit - it might still save you...

    Tiger 737s back to VA

AdMEL the colour may be different but the TT website says 31 in pitch, which is the same as VA, and of course the seats are the same width - a narrow 17 in. And to add to that, Alliance F100s have now operated TT flights - the same aircraft are also used for VA! It's indeed a bit of a mess, no...

    Tiger 737s back to VA

I'm not sure that that's the very front row that you can see in the photo - if you look at the overhead lockers, the first row that we can see is 3 and I think it's the bulkhead pockets that you can see in the lower corners.

    Tiger 737s back to VA

From this photo https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/8541146 it looks like J has been installed (I think you can just see the bulkhead in the corners) and the headrest covers have been changed. It's not great to see that in Y the only difference between VA and TT is the colour of the headrests!

Same here. FWIW, I received previous SCs on 7/12, 6/1, 5/2 and 3/3 so the trend was for earlier until this month.

SC Earn with travel agent fares

My concern is partners, where there can be a lot of fare classes that earn few or no points/SCs.

SC Earn with travel agent fares

I second the question! I've travelled to a few places on VA and their partners where there weren't codeshares available and the whole process of separate bookings, re-checking bags etc. didn't seem worth it. If there was an agent who I could trust to book me onto points and status...

Economy X [Domestic free for Platinum] - May 2017

That headrest cover is Delta Comfort+ all over! Unfortunately, they didn't take Delta's lead in their promo pictures and show a vacant seat between two people: https://twitter.com/VirginAustralia/status/847310835391225860/photo/1 demonstrating exactly what I've been saying for years to anybody...

Lounge access LAX flying to Mexico

If it's an Aeromexico-operated flight then you shouldn't receive lounge access as that's determined by operating airline. See here: https://www.virginaustralia.com/au/en/experience/at-the-airport/international-lounge-access/

VA Points / SC Credits - Anyone notice how slow it has become recently

Re: Posting of points Yes VA domestic used to post to my account without fail at the second midnight UTC after the flight. Now it's anything from three to seven days or never. But to be fair, an organisation that can't organise to add a single 's' over a period of years (the Velocity website...

VA A330's almost completely gone from PER-BNE/SYD/MEL during June '17?

He did hint that but I suspect the narrow 737 fuselage will rule out anything too fancy like a JetBlue Mint-style product or a herringbone layout. I'd expect to see leg rests and a lowering of the price instead. While we're talking about J, it's worth noting that in Y, VA and QF 737s offer...
