    Stretching the B737 fleet

Except those were new-build 787s while this 737 has been removed from mainline. Then the TT 320 that it's replacing will go to VARA, probably to operate on behalf of VA because as brettd says an A320 is not a like-for-like F100 replacement.

VA half yearly results to 31 December 2018

There is nothing unusual about paying somebody else to do some of your regional flying. What is unusual is: leasing E Jets to do your regional flying buying a regional airline and paying top dollar to lease new ATRs for your new regional subsidiary parking the E Jets and the ATRs shrinking your...

VA half yearly results to 31 December 2018

That's what I understood, too. Oldest VA 737s go to TT and the TT 320s go to VARA to operate on behalf of VA. Meanwhile still paying to lease aircraft that are in storage. Maybe it all made sense once but it doesn't any more

    Ask The Pilot

If you want to move air traffic, the ideal design for an airport is parallel runways far apart with toaster rack-style terminals in the middle of, and perpendicular to the runways. For up to 80-90 movements per hour, it's best to have one runway for arrivals and one runway for departures with...

    Virgin Lounge at Brisbane International

The Hobart lounge was opening in mid 2014 so I'm not holding my breath ;)

'The House' 3 hour limit [Now rescinded for VA PAX]

Policy on the run. Now there's no time limit. Virgin Australia: "no time limit" for new international lounges So the lounge agents are enforcing a three hour time limit in accordance with VA policy, the contracted lounge operator thinks it's a four hour time limit in accordance with VA policy...

Veterans to receive Priority Boarding & "thank you for your service"

And that's why I've been critical of them - it's just another example of a VA decision that has no substance because they won't sped the money to back it up. Discounts? Mental health? Nah that'll cost us. I'll happily agree with Pauline Hanson on this one.

Veterans to receive Priority Boarding & "thank you for your service"

Yes I think this is a perfect illustration of VA and Velocity's performance over the past couple of years. Empty hype that's intended to get news headlines and social media traction yet has no real substance and will either never happen at all or will be abandoned after a few months. Why not...

Why does the Velocity website show a rolling 12 month SC total?

I'm a huge fan of the rolling 12 months as it's worked in my favour many times (for both achieving and maintaining status) and I don't struggle to keep track of my and my partner's status. As mentioned above, the running total of status credits is useful for those looking to achieve the next...

    Change to SQ Earn Rates

I received a points and SC adjustment in my account today, so I've now earned at the rates that applied when I booked my SQ flight. Rubbish process but a good and (I think) fair outcome.

    China Airlines cancelled flight

They reduced the schedule from 14 weekly to 10 weekly late last year and looks like that's been carried through the rest of this year (the evening flight is still daily but the daytime flight mentioned by the posters above is now just three times a week) so it's a case of reduced schedule, not...

    Change to SQ Earn Rates

AFAIK they updated their website on 13/3 with a 1/3 effective date. I'm pretty sure SQ's fare changes were public knowledge for months beforehand.

    Change to SQ Earn Rates

I received a reply to my email on 30 March in line with what others have reported - saying these are the new rates but we'll see if we can negotiate something with SQ. Nothing heard back yet but it seems appropriate to give 14 days.

    Ask The Pilot

Separation standards i.e. the vertical and horiontal distances that ATC keep between aircraft are developed based on analysis of aircraft and pilot performance over years. We know that pilots are capable of maintaining their aircraft height to within x feet and tracking to within y nautical...

    Change to SQ Earn Rates

Received a second email confirming that all flights from 1 March will earn at the new rates but told to send a retro claim after the flights post and they might see if they can negotiate a deal with SQ =/ I think whoever briefed AusBT knew that it was poor form to base the changes on flight...

    Change to SQ Earn Rates

Received a response to my email enquiry about my flight this week booked nine months ago saying please call to discuss. Called to discuss and told that the new rates apply to all flights from 1 March 2018 regardless of booking date.

    Change to SQ Earn Rates

Not unexpected but geez the SQ Flexi Saver was usually a great SC per dollar earner. I'm flying on a H fare next week (booked nine months ago) so I too have sent an email to Velocity asking for clarification.

Imagine connecting a 1980s Nintendo console in Melbourne to a garden shovel in Darwin and then programming them so that pressing A on the Nintendo makes the shovel dig a 1 m deep hole while throwing the shovel like a javelin makes Mario run forwards and you'll see how ATC works today - the two...
