No, it generally doesn't help with quarantine. However, having said that, sometimes the following have happened (in Sydney):
1. Used the machine/eye scanner and with no immigration mark on the card, the quarantine guy didn't know what to do and the quarantine person had to explain it and let...
The short answer is yes.
The long answer is maybe. I have found most economies will "tolerate" a partner when you go through using the APEC card, but as usage is growing, more are being more pedantic about limiting the numbers and actually checking to see that you are cleared for their...
No airline has asked me to produce my China Visa on check in or before boarding. If they do, show them the APEC Card (and explain as necessary).
With the immigration forms, just write APEC Card and the number on the front of the card.
Re: Do Aust. need Cinese visa with APEC card ?
I can GUARANTEE you that no visa is needed to enter China if you have a valid APEC clearance and it shows on the card. I travel there regularly, especially Shanghai and Shenzhen. Both entry points, as well as Beijing, Guangzhou and a couple of...
I hope I'm wrong, but I understood they did a "recheck" to make sure we are have been "well behaved", otherwise why have a 3-year limit and not set expiry to coincide with passport expiry (for example) ? (and not only be a revenue generator).
My renewal went in earlier this week, so it'll be interesting to see how long the economies take to clear this time.
My son's card has two outstanding after about 2 months, PNG and Vietnam.
I think the card is for our specific business benefit. If you are travelling with colleagues, especially regularly, they could apply too or just join the other lines. I also have had my Son (who now has a card in his own right) and partner (she doesn't) go thru the APEC lanes with me without...
I was looking at that, but it means another airline program, which I don't really want at this stage, although I'd like to try them SYD-HKG (and get SQ points anyway).
I travel to PNG regularly and the APEC card works well, they have a separate lane (POM only has 3 lanes!) and it has saved me $$$ in work visas worth more than the APEC card. Not to mention the savings from Indonesia and China. The only countries I haven't yet used the card are South American...
I look forward to sharing some tales with you at some stage! I hate when the smartgate at Sydney isn't programmed (as it wasn't earlier this week) and I was first there by a mile or everyone is off dozing somewhere, but I've not had any "we're not letting you in" experiences! I am a "no one in...
My earn rate is 1.5 and I use points either on QF (1:1) or SQ (2:1). As everything goes on the AX I like the flexibility and it really suits me to be able to put points on SQ, even at a higher burn rate.
Guy next to me SIN-HKG the other day had a pair from Hemelmecher Schlemelmecher (I know it's not right, but I know who I mean)...in US, and it's the first time I've really had a listen...they were fantastic.
I will be looking more seriously now!
Thanks Sully & Gaia
I had heard your advice quite some time back, I realise now (hindsight being such good vision) but appreciate the details, now etched! The consequence is that I will probably apply for my new passport a bit earlier, rather than allow just a month until the apec card expires...
Congrats!
My concern will be in June when I will renew my passport (as it's filled up after only 4 years) and my card expires in July...how long will the renewals take. I use the card almost weekly! I'm hoping that renewals will be faster.
I notice now though that a lot more immigration...
