I second advice on the books. Head to Goondoon St, they had I think a couple Noel Whittaker's books. I've also borrowed Motivated Money by Peter Thornhill and JL Collins Simple path to wealth. Highly recommend both of those, especially the latter.

Didn't work for us trying to change the EK/QF award booked prior to EK awards "enhancement" from QFF to partner award table, was advised on the phone (and on AFF prior) that the points difference would be charged. That and lack of EK F availability saw us having to unfortunately cancel.

@get me outta here when i cancelled mine last time a couple of years back, i remember them giving something like 30 days grace period to use the points and after that they are forfeited. Wouldn't hurt to ask them or look for t&c's, especially if having a large balance.
