What happens when QF cancels a flight?

If it is cancelled in advance of the day of travel, they can send you back to AS. However, equally QF can always take over the ticket. On the day of travel it is up to QF to rebook you. That said, we have had some examples in the last few weeks where QF have tried to reaccommodate clients on...

BA first or QF business ?

I would be going for BA F over QF A380 J. Sure its not the best F in the world, but it is definitely better than the A380 business.

Upcoming Changes to Airline Inventory Distribution. What are they?

It is IATA's "New Distribution Capability" - IATA - New Distribution Capability, which will see an alternative to traditional GDS distribution. The exact impact is a bit blurry with those airlines that have released an NDC offering doing a limited introduction at the moment. QF released theirs a...

    Confirmed Booking vs e-Ticket

Veuling can have an eticket, but not always. When we issue a VY ticket you will get a BA eticket number. Booked online on their website, you won't. With upcoming changes to how airlines distribute their inventory, there are going to be more examples of things being different depending on how...

    Guaranteeing baby bassinet

In my experience, EY will confirm a BSCT seat in advance, just not a specific one. So if there are mutiple options, you'll get one of them and they decide which one at check in. If there are only one or two options, then the allocation is easier. The only time you won't get it confirmed is if...

Do I need to book a wheelchair?

Another vote for a wheelchair. Takes the stress out of it all. Sounds like the wheeled walker will fit in the cabin, but if it cant, its a good backup

    Monitor Flight Bookings

I also use Check My Trip (which is a product of Amadeus). But it's basic. It will give you the info you're after as far as schedule changes goes, but it's not as sophisticated as TripIt Pro. I'm also getting annoyed with the increase in advertising of late on CheckMyTrip and the push...

Transaction fee question [Forex CC fees for ex NZ bookings]

If you booked the same flight from an AU based TA, or OTA and use VA as the merchant, then you'd pay in AUD and there would be no forex fee as it is considered an AU point of sale. The fare is in NZD, but is converted to AUD in the GDS at essentially the cash rate, so it would work out ahead.

    Google Flights vs actual availability?

It is most likely a cached fare - all the OTA websites don't do an actual search of availability each time you search as it takes too long, so they pull results from a cache, which may be a few days old, and no longer exist. There is an EY fare for $7035 that I can see... EY 461 W 30AUG...

    Amex Centurion

It's just one benefit of Centurion, and indeed one benefit of their insurance versus the Platinum. Like anything, depending on how much you use something it will vary how much it is worth to you. Insurance is a personal thing, and I'm sure you can evaluate the options online for how much...

    Crown Towers Perth

I like the property, even if it is over the river. There are rates that give you Breakfast and Club Access for free (and it's a great club lounge). But you won't get them through the aggregators of QF. PM me if you'd like to use it.

Disappointing Experiences with Australian Amex Travel Service Team

QF/EK can be very tricky with their yield management, depending on what you're already holding in the PNR. So sometimes availability that you see outside the PNR is not available inside the PNR when you search and try and add it. Similarly, availability on the QF codeshare can be affected...
