Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I agree with what Dave is saying here. I base this on my experience of witnessing issues on carriers that do charge for exit row seats (as well as hearing about it from crew). They have a lot of problems with people who are clearly unsuitable booking them even though they are shown the...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

They need to keep some product differentiation from JQ. :p

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I would suggest not giving them ideas, or they may do it.

    Big development! Qantas seat selection!

Any idea what was fixed while it was down?

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I'm a bit surprised that many WPs are not aware of this benefit, but being 'unpublished', I can believe that. I guess I am a bit unusual in that I have status with Star Alliance as well as OW but chose QF as my primary carrier (I have various reasons for doing so, not just the status issue)...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

SQ is not the only competitor on the route, as you would be well aware. Regarding DJ, I am refusing to fly DJ in protest more than I would refuse to fly QF in protest. It is merely the matter 'no point in having QF as a preferred carrier'. It assumes that they will be mostly sold. I doubt...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

It might be a round-about way of increasing your chance of an op-up (or even points upgrade). They might as well upgrade someone in a seat that can create them extra revenue

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

If AN was still operating, I'd fly on AN. I actually have not paid to fly DJ since I had a number of poor-bordering-on-strange experiences on them (that's excluding badly done 'silly' PAs). I only used up my points to fly when I was on a very loose schedule once, and never since. JQ does not...

    Question for NB QP members

Ask at the QP reception. They usually have some (unfortunately not blue though).

    Question for NB QP members

LOL, you should get a spare key from the hotel for that purpose!

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

Trust me, I will be doing so, in case they do change their mind about 'reduction in WP benefits' as I see it.

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

That's a privilege definitely being taken away then. That is highly disappointing, considering it would have been no loss to QF to give WPs access prior to 7 day period if they charged for it (because the revenue would still have been generated AND they would have kept the likes of me a bit...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

(My emphasis) Assuming that WPs can still request it before 7 days prior to departure, then I don't mind if I have to pay. It is not about the money, but it is about near-guaranteed availability through priority as far as I'm concerned. It'll be a silly thing for QF if they do not give WPs...

    Five Star Hotel in Sydney

I agree it is a bit expensive for a single trip. It all depends on how much travelling the OP intends to do in the next 12 month as to whether something would be worthwhile or not, I guess.

    Fear of Flying!!

Is it fear of flying or is it fear of crashing? Some people are scared of flying, whereas some are scared of crashing, and others are scared of getting injured/dying. Maybe have a think about this as a starting point to work though things in your mind. I used to be a rather fearful flyer, to...

Is Qantas diluting the benefits of status?

Just as a slight aside, I got 'spoken at' about the exit row by a cabin crew member while being seated in the exit row the other day. I was treated as if I had no idea what an exit row was, in a rather patronising tone - I have never encountered this before. I was also unhappy with the way...

    Five Star Hotel in Sydney

Or get both Ambassador and Priority Privilege, especially if you travel outside of Asia Pacific areas. PP only works in a limited number of countries, whereas Amb works worldwide. I get rather nice upgrades through it (you can combine the Amb and PP benefits). PP sometimes offers 'no voucher...

    Five Star Hotel in Sydney

I've got to agree about the IC Club Floor. It was rather nice (and relatively inexpensive, compared to Park Hyatt), and the views were great. If it weren't for my love of Starwood, I'd stay at IC Sydney's club room every time I'm there (I'm an Amb and PP) as I think it represents pretty good value.

    Brisbane Qantas Staff Stood Down

Don't get too paranoid! My success rate is about 70/30 (30 = refused), so WPs don't always get it, either.

    Brisbane Qantas Staff Stood Down

Is there something silly (e.g. events) going on in MEL? The flights were really full, the bags were really late and very banked up (I'm talking domestic here by the way), and just lots of people.
