Is Qantas diluting the benefits of status?

What I am saying is that a lot of people wouldn't bother, not that all F pax with a lot of money won't bother. I know quite a few people who would not even dream of travelling in anything other than F where-ever it is available and never joined FF schemes, because they don't feel the need to...

Relaxed Access Rules for J Lounge

Not sure if it's all afternoon, but I recall having hot food at most time of the afternoon and evening at BNE.

Relaxed Access Rules for J Lounge

Only after 5pm - that's much worse than BNE! They have some for breakfast (if those pancakes count) and from about 12pm onwards for 'proper' hot food.

Relaxed Access Rules for J Lounge

Twice I was at SYD J lounge recently, there was no hot food. Is that the norm there, or did I catch it 'at the wrong time'?

Is Qantas diluting the benefits of status?

You're correct, indeed, there is no BA OW Ruby.

Is Qantas diluting the benefits of status?

Status of non-status passengers would probably not have shown up on the manifest. I also suspect there are a lot of people in F who are not members of FF scheme - if you have more money than you can easily spend, would you bother becoming a member? I wouldn't bother - what's the point in...

Is Qantas diluting the benefits of status?

Precisely. I don't think BA's system works to the advantage of their shareholders than QF's system. As someone said, they're not there to serve their passengers - they are there to serve their shareholders (and thus the company/directors etc's own pocket as well, usually). Often (or...

Around the world 10 times and not 1 point to show for it

You don't need to belong to just one. You could get a membership with one airline from each alliance and then you can still potentially earn points while you are still choosing the lowest fare. It also depends on what you call 'huge' amount of flying time. If you do 10 times around the world in...

    Buy the cheap flights then

I agree, they do reward loyalty of small spenders in a reasonable manner in my opinion. Even in good (?) old days when I barely flew, I did get points and got some 'free' flights from those.

    Qantas wants clearer pet rules

Indeed, safety rules need to come before anti-discrimination laws. As for pets - if people need 'comfort animals' to travel (as opposed to service animals such as guide dogs or hearing dogs), then I think people need to consider others before imposing it upon others.

Upgrade to business from economy on N, O or Q

LOL! I would be more worried about catching it in Australia than in Japan :lol: Generally, no (if you go to a counter or telephone to arrange for such, the fares quoted will be high). There are reports about people having received a targeted call to ask them if they would be interested to...

    Buy the cheap flights then

I think the response from the customer service agent was pretty reasonable given the circumstance, although if the CSA named the competitor, it may not have been quite a good business practice to do so.

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I find it a bit weird that while some other carriers are giving extra benefits to their higher status FFers, QF takes it away in a pretty strange way (when they didn't even need to take it away entirely).

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I think the trouble is that this 'trend' of charging for exit row seats seem to be associated with low cost airlines. I don't have a problem with it conceptually (even though I hardly ever fly low cost), but it does have the 'cheap' feel to it somehow. Then again, desperate times, desperate...

    Northwest lounge Narita

I do wish there were still some 'quiet sanctuaries for adults' remaining around places, such as airport lounges. E.g. if a place serves alcohol, it is not a place for children. There could be a separate area for families, but I prefer not to hear children everywhere.

    Complaint to Brent Godfrey

And why wouldn't the government be responsible for my missed flight due to an accident causing congestion on the road as a result of poor road and driver qualifications and monitoring? I treat economy class airline travel as any other travel. People complain about airlines what people never...

    Northwest lounge Narita

I don't know what the state of QP is like at NRT (if I went through that terminal, I wouldn't use QP - I'd go to JL First), but I found NWA lounge to be quite ordinary. Sure, it's airy, bright and quite spacious, but after being spoilt by BA Flounge at T5, QF Flounges and QF/BA SIN Flounge, the...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I did, but I only got a semi-automated form reply saying 'it will be passed onto the relevant department'. I found it a bit offensive considering that I took a bit of time to write to them. However I may have sent it through an inappropriate method (web form), because emails (as opposed to web...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

They did even before they introduced the fees, didn't they? Most of my exit row neighbours had no status. So I have no idea what they are really trying to say there. It almost sounds like "We want to downgrade WPs to everyone else's level" when they say "Qantas wants to give all passengers the...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I really wish they considered giving PRIORITY to WPs, not discounts (or preferably BOTH of course). At least, you got a call from them, so that's one brownie points to QF. As stated before, I don't care about the fees much. Really, $160 barely even pays for a decent dinner (let alone drinks)...
