Spain - Umm, I just walked right in??

That's because they are Schengen members. They have an open border policy. There are still immigration controls within EU because there are non-Schengen member EU states (e.g. Bulgaria, the UK etc), but between Schengen members, there's nothing at all, and they are like catching a domestic...

    Tiger's breastfeeding bungle

I agree with that. Besides, even if one is Hawkins, Gale or Kerr, it's not very nice to be cause some men around oneself a potentially 'physically embarrassing state' when it can easily be avoided by being discreet. I think 'rights' and 'discretion and consideration' do not have to conflict...

Jobs that have the highest call for travel...

I don't travel for work any more, for which I am very thankful. I used to travel a fair bit for work but it was almost all to places that I would not choose to visit. Having had a lot of personal contact with people who have to travel extensively for work (including air crew), and seeing most...

MH - does cheap mean nasty?

I'm still having difficulties forgetting the 'MH on fumes over London' incidents

BA vs QF Business Class London=>Sydney

I LOVE the BA privacy screen. I am an antisocial traveller because I like my sleep. I don't like QF non-A380 J for the lack of privacy screen (and skyslope). A380 is much better but the privacy screen could go higher IMO.

BA vs QF Business Class London=>Sydney

BA CW (and CE for that matter) breakfast is boring. This is one area that QF J always does much better. Can't say the same about the rest of QF - rather inconsistent, although they have a higher chance of being fantastic than BA (BA tend to be a bit drab - nothing to complain about their...

    AIR - A Qantas Magazine

It's a mixture of mostly BA and QF, purely a guess but probably about 70% business class, 15% premium economy, 15% economy.

    Westin Tokyo

Just echoing what Dr Ron said about Westin Tokyo. It's a nice property, and services were good. They were very apologetic about not having a suite or a 'major upgrade' available at the time (as I understand it, there many massive wedding party bookings) but still gave me a rather nice, spacious...

    AIR - A Qantas Magazine

Nothing here - I'm about to hit 3000 SCs less than half way through my membership year.

    Another car rental scam

I would have considered $30 to be fairly reasonable, but $120 for admin fees seem silly - either they are doing it because they feel they can get away with it or I want to work for them as their admin person. $120 for a 10 min work is more than what I get paid.

    What's wrong with Qantas?

I am only speaking of domestic flights here, but the reason why I fly QF is because the alternatives are, IMHO, much, much worse.

    QF Economy Urination Policy

When I am in J, I use the J loo. When I am in Y, I use the Y loo. It's just a simple courtesy thing towards J passengers for me not to enter their area. If there are pressing reasons why Y passengers should be using J loos (e.g. urgent need but the aisle blocked by trolley), then I see nothing...

    Air Crash Investigation

Is watching ACI in flight any worse than watching Snakes on a Plane on AVOD (as QF put on as one of their in-flight films as I remember)? Also one QF flight had Mythbusters with puking scenes (from being spun round in a chair, I think) - and that wasn't on AVOD but the fixed screen on a...

    Tips on coping with turbulence

I just go to sleep. I don't know why but I find turbulence rather sleep-inducing. When it gets really bad, it gets a bit annoying because my head flops about and wakes me up, but other than that, I trust the structural integrity of aircraft and self-preservation instinct of people at the...

    Air Crash Investigation

There are sometimes technical inaccuracies that get on our nerves, but they are pretty good shows overall. LOL @ watching it on board and horrifying the passenger next to you. Mean but funny!

Do Qantas Price Match with BA?

Correct. BA do not offer exit seats for sale.

How many diverted flights have you been on ?

I should probably add a bit more info. It's not just about paying for fuel. I'm not sure if the APU can power the entire IFE system for most aircraft, especially AVOD. If the APU can't power it, they may not even be able to get the clearance to start the engines, or may not be at an...

Really, travel light/carry on only - how on earth do you do it?!

Ahh, I see! I thought you had some special ultra-rare secret hair care products that you could not risk being parted from. Come to think of it, hair care products do seem to have a habit of spilling (I double ziplock bag them in my checked baggage).

    Are Qantas A380's still grounded?

Could be an over-aggressive attempt at saving weight.

Sting nabs sticky-fingered JFK airport workers

Indeed, there should be a lot stricter checks on staff. Some shops in the UK only allow their staff to carry their things in a clear plastic bag, presumably to prevent theft by staff. I think it should apply to those who handle passenger properties at airports. Sure, there may be workers'...
