    VA “secret announcement”

Posted on VA’s instagram a “secret announcement” is coming tomorrow… 🤔

Have Virgin cancelled the 'Fly Ahead' benefit again?

yes and no. If I just doesn’t turn up to the airport then the plane has an extra empty seat which could be used by VA to fly someone else ahead. Seems fair to charge me a fee to rebook in this case. If I request to fly behind X hour before departure then the seat could be sold/given to someone...

Have Virgin cancelled the 'Fly Ahead' benefit again?

Small sidetrack - have anyone tried to “Fly Behind”? If flying ahead is a benefit then it feels to me volunteering to take a later flight is beneficial to VA as well?😅

Virgin Australia to Reconfigure 737 Fleet - Spend $110M

Perhaps even more surprisingly that’s a 60W PD USB-C, plenty capable of charging a lightweight laptop in the absence of an AC socket. Very nice.

Velocity Points Programme & flights to USA

It’s only LAX-PVG and only 4 flights per week initially until December which will increase to daily. On the grand scheme of things it’s still just a fraction of capacity compared to pre pandemic UA so the extra 1.5 787 this route will take is relatively minor compared to the overall 787 fleet...

How long for Velocity cancelled award booking to refund points?

If you call the agent can process it over the phone to refund the points immediately, though I would make sure to mention that you need the points back now so the agent does it on the spot. If you use the web form it generally takes 3-5 business days for someone to action the request.

VA Unable to book EY Business rewards availability on connecting itienrary?

Thanks. Wasn't aware this system exists for even rewards booking - it won't be the end of the world if I have to book them separately or do a stop-over.

VA Unable to book EY Business rewards availability on connecting itienrary?

Was trying to find J rewards booking to LHR in the next 1-2 month so have started watching seats.aero - particualrly EY as they seem to release good amount of availability to AUH then onwards to various EU cities. I was able to find avaibility when searching individual legs on the website, say...

Velocity Points Programme & flights to USA

As I've recenly discovered and discussed in another thread it is currenly not possible to book business class rewards seats on SQ's North America routes with Velocity points. One option for you is to transfer your points to SQ's KrisFlyer program at 1.55 Velocity Points to 1 KrisFlyer points and...

    Online Check-In for Qatar flight

Nothing to do with VA. Depending on your destination and your citizenship situation QR may have to do a document check to make sure you have the right visa/permit for your destination. Some airlines will still issue you a boarding pass when checking-in online, but will actually still conduct a...

    Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

That's too bad. I really do prefer SQ (or QR/EY/NH even for that matter) when going to the US East Coast (namely New York) over via SFO/LAX. The 2 West Coast hub are just way too busy and connecting onto a domesitc flight means there's no nice duty-free / lounge option to kill time.

    Velocity reinstates Singapore Airlines redemptions

Does Velocity get access to SQ's North American routes? I've been looking at J rewards space to the US (specifically SIN-JFK/EWR on the 359URL) and found some pretty decent rewards space on SQ (Saver/I Class). The spaces is availabel on both SQ's own website and Aeroplan but doesn't seem...

Virgin Australia and Air NZ form new partnership

I’ve read some of those submissions to both ACCC and NZ MOT and can say they’ve only stated the obvious while lacking any evidence to back up their claim. They are, perhaps fanciful, to think VA will just restart trans-Tasman services absent this arrangement in the near future. I couldn’t find...

    Virgin changing its fare structure

This will be great news for PT, it might finally make sense to use those upgrade vouchers now flex fares are more reasonable.

Virgin Australia and Air NZ form new partnership

Why would that be unfair? Regrettable is probably a better word for it. We'd all like VA to have standarised and far reaching and recriprocal alliance type arrangements with more airlines instead of the current patch work of partners but that is a business decision VFF has made and have been...

Virgin Australia and Air NZ form new partnership

I recall after the signed the interline with Delta they were even making cabin announcements welcoming delta connecting passengers onboard.

2,000 bonus Velocity points with every one-way VA flight (book by 29 August 2024)

VA is really trying to pump up those forward bookings. Not really a surprise but just shows that demand across the board is continuing to be soft.

Fraud on Velocity Frequent Flyer accounts

I think we should all raise feedbacks with VA/Velocity such that they step up the account protection game. When the tech world is already moving from MFA to Passkey, VA without even basic text based MFA is stuck in the early 2000s.

United lounge access as VA platinum

They should be able to. However Multi City with a stop-over greater than 24 hrs will be priced the same way as 2 separate tickets. If both flights are on the same day then they are not technically multi-city. It's just a normal connecting itinerary and you happen to prefer/book this particular...

    ANA partnership with Virgin Australia

Even during the winter peak? Thinking of just gambling without a backup Y ticket for my trip in mid Jan 25. Dates will be slightly flexible except I’ll need 2x J and it won’t bankrupt me to book Y last minute if the plan fall through 😬
