SC Earn with travel agent fares

Yes, as long as you are booked in eligible fare classes, status credits on bookins made by TAs are the same as if you've booked them directly with Virgin.

QF vrs VA - Short Haul Domestic Business

No, it wouldn't happen like that. This change happened in advance, so if the flight was full they would have just sold the CL a seat from wait list and managed the over sale on the day. People no show, change flights, miss connections, so it could easily be that a seat becomes available and they...

Booking several airlines on the one ticket - do I need a travel agent?

    Excellent explanation. Thank you.

How long can a transaction stay pending?

I'm not 100% on how pending transactions work exactly, but my understanding is that a pending charge that is intended to convert will do so when the merchant settles their 'machine'. For most merchants this is overnight. If a pending charge is because of a hold, then it is up to the merchant...

    CX Fanfares thread

Re: CX Y fares Oz to HKG I'm with you, John. Did the A330 and 777 CX Y to/from HK last week. Exit rows to make it as good as possible and daylight flights. Wouldn't have raved about it. Particularly the A330. But, it was a super good fare, so really can't complain too much!

Booking several airlines on the one ticket - do I need a travel agent?

You are getting PNR and Record Locators (Relocs) mixed up. A PNR is the master reference that is generated by the GDS of the booking agent. Within that PNR, each airline will have their own record locator for the various flight segments, which references the reservation in their system...

Booking several airlines on the one ticket - do I need a travel agent?

Yes. A TA can put multiple airlines and tickets in the one PNR, which isnt possible online or even with the airlines directly.

Booking several airlines on the one ticket - do I need a travel agent?

You can combine all those airline on one ticket and get you into Italy and out of Split, again on the one ticket. The suggestions to buy your flights in Europe separately are going to cost you more if you are looking at a Lufthansa/Austrian fare, because you'd get the add ons for free. So you'd...

Booking several airlines on the one ticket - do I need a travel agent?

It will really depend on the itinerary how much you can get on one ticket. Often a Europe itinerary with multiple stops will have multiple tickets. But what a TA will do is work out the best way to structure them and make sure it all works.

J pax using F shower on EK?

QF vrs VA - Short Haul Domestic Business

I've been doing a bit to Tasmania lately and VA J is streets ahead of the QFLink 717 J experience. The QFLink crew don't know their menu, no idea of the wines, food very ordinary and they don't have the polish of the QF mainline crew.

Separate PNR domestic economy / international business

You just go to wherever you booked the international flight and get them to add in another flight. If it was Qantas online, then you'll need to give them a ring. Online bookings have made people think things need to be separate, but they can be easily in the same PNR.

Separate PNR domestic economy / international business

Why don't you book them separately but in the same PNR to avoid the baggage hassles? You get the fare saving, and guaranteed through check.

Flight changed by Cathay what can I do?

I have seen this happen with SQ, when they sub an aircraft that doesn't have PE. The outcome with them is travel in Economy, with fare difference to Y class refunded and an upgrade coupon to use when next travelling that leg on which you were downgraded.

    I made a deal with the boss...Y or W

With the current QF Asia Sale, this is definitely a good idea. QF Y to Asia and a cheap Finnair Business from there. Do it with an agent and you'll get it in one PNR and save the hassles of the enhanced baggage rules!

Flight costs more when redeeming QF voucher

Odd. QF does manipulate the availability depending on the history of the PNR, so that was going to be my guess. But if it is a gift voucher, it is less likely. Still possible though, depending on how the Gift Voucher is recorded in their system.

Changing date to outside the booking window

You can make a free of charge change when the return date is outside system range, yes. It assumes the same fare class is available when availability is finally loaded. If not, then you would need to pay the fare difference, but no change penalty.
