Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I do indeed prefer the BA WT+ seat to QF PE, believe it or not. I was surprised myself when I tried it, after reading the reviews and people saying that QF seats were far better. I guess it's about what ergonomically suits me. I admit QF PE feels J- and BA WT+ feels, well, WT+ (not CW-), but it...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

Funnily enough, that's basically what I would do - I won't fly economy class. However, I won't be flying QF either. I do not like QF PE seat. I don't really like the QF J cabin layout or seat a lot. F is not available or will be removed from the main routes I fly, so QF F is not an option. So...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

A lot of obese people are not very agile and many have reduced mobile though, and on some aircraft types, they will actually block the exit as they cannot get through the exit. I have not come across very many obese people whose mobility and agility has not been affected. On the other hand...

Upgrade to business from economy on N, O or Q

That's a 'normal' bug (is that the right thing to say?) that has been happening for a while. Nothing really to worry about in terms of whether your request has been submitted correctly.

    Young-ish pax experiences

I'm mid-30s WP (although I apparently look late 20s/early 30s), and generally get treated the same or better than those around me on any airline that I've flown on lately. I get pretty attentive service, although I'm very low maintenance because all I want to do is to eat and sleep. I have not...

Upgrade to business from economy on N, O or Q

It looks like the same as before to me?

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

No, just revenue, not profit (but not including tax, fees and charges). However, given that an empty seat still has operating cost involved in it, they would be better off having revenue from me than not. The simple solution to this, as far as I am concerned, as soneone suggested somewhere...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

Yes there are. It causes quite a lot of problems to carriers that are 'selling' exit row sears. I do know this for the fact. It becomes quite emotive. They would also make the person tick the box that he is able bodied and can speak English and is prepared to help in the event of an emergency...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

That would be quite fine by me - I don't do DONE4, I don't fly around the USA for the sake of status. I give Qantas at least 16 long haul sectors a year (some years more), with another 30-40 short haul QF sectors a year on average (plus around 60 'normal' oneworld sectors a year) already planned...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

Maybe not, especially considering that I can't remember not being able to get it as a WP. I'd be happy for QF to sell the general public the exit row seat at OLCI time (but not at the time of booking), as long as WPs have been able to pre-allocate them, preferably free of charge.

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I can't remember not getting an exit row seat as a WP. It is a major change to me if I have to compete with everyone to get it. Potentially a rather large group of people, especially at the lower end of reported price ($80-160). I don't care if I have to pay, as long as my chance of getting...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

SQ? No. The answer is BA. Some BA config has no exit row in economy but I prefer BA WT+ to QF premium economy anyway so I'd travel on BA WT+ in that case. The main reason why QF have had my long haul business is 'almost guaranteed' access to an exit row seat in economy. If that is gone, I...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

If they charge $80 per exit row seat, they'd need to sell quite a lot of them (250-400 depending on the year) to recoup what they lose through loss of my custom alone.

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

Sounds like a much better system that will give them extra revenue as well as keeping WPs not-too-unhappy. I object more to 'lesser availability' than paying for it, so if they allocate them in the order of status, I have much less objection because my chance of getting the exit row will remain...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

I think every one of us who doesn't like this new policy should write to Qantas to lodge our objections. If enough Platinums complain, maybe they will re-think this policy. Same here, although I would prefer it if they stopped taking away bits of frequent flyer benefits.

    No more 'free' flight sales

Most $2,000 tickets would be for an international flight, which incur $25 fee, I believe - which, to me, is not that low. At least Qantas doesn't charge CC fees 'per person per sector', for which I am thankful.

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

But they are risking losing loyalty from some Platinum members who may be providing them with quite decent revenue for quite a long time to come? It is a well-known Platinum benefit and so whether it is published or not, those Platinum members who are affected by this policy, if it does happen...

    No more 'free' flight sales

I wouldn't go quite far to call it extortion but it is disproportionately and inappropriately high IMHO, and it is impossible to avoid if booking a last minute ticket, or if you are not an Australian bank account holder. I personally think CC fees should be built into the ticket price, and so...

Qantas to charge passengers extra for exit row seats

Appalling move by Qantas that takes away the existing privilege of WPs. I'll be going elsewhere if they introduced it - well I'd just fly BA which I find to be a better product anyway (especially in J). Another great 'enhancement' to the FF program

Woman's neck, back broken in air turbulence on Continental plane

On the subject of loo seat belt, how about the system like they have on some roller coasters where a restraint comes down from above and pushes down onto one's shoulder? Then there should be no skin contact. This should work as long as one is seated... As for the standing position, that would be...
