    Weather Delays at Sydney

Although it is frustrating I think in those conditions the safest place is on the ground

    Weather Delays at Sydney

Spare a thought for those on the Jetstar flight from Hobart that was diverted to Melbourne because they missed the curfew!

    Is Qantas becoming less reliable?

I hate it when they use that excuse. They add in at least 25mins fat on a Sydney/Melbourne flight, even more on longer legs for weather and holding etc.

I really want you to ask departures where they are next time you talk to them. I can assure you they are not in Mlebourne.

    Qantas delays flights in Perth

Terminal Navigation services and Terminal Radar services for Melbourne and Canberra are provided from the Melbourne facility with the Sydney, Adelaide and Perth terminal units managed from Melbourne. There are 152 terminal area controllers. If you go to perth airport you will see a tower...

    Qantas delays flights in Perth

Both Perth Tower and terminal are controlled directly out of Perth. En-route above is done in Melbourne. I realise TIBA is a procedure and the airspace classification does not change however lets face it, its the same as class G without any ATC service at all. Aircraft are provided with a...

    Qantas delays flights in Perth

If there were ATC they wouldn't be TIBA. There is always more than 1 controller working at any time therefore it depends on where the staffing issue is to which part will be TIBA. Yes you may have been able to get your clearance on the ground, you may have even been able to get a runway...

    Qantas delays flights in Perth

Lets not forget that USA has MUCH BETTER radar coverage than Australia. What about when there is more than 2 ACFT around with weather? No offence but eyes go inside the coughpit when you can't see much outside.

    Qantas delays flights in Perth

There is a difference between an airport not being controlled and TIBA. Non controlled aerodromes at least have traffic and SAR services. TIBA has neither, therefor you may not even know about that cessna until it is too late, where as non controlled aerodromes will tell you that its in the area...

    Qantas delays flights in Perth

The airspace becomes TIBA = Traffic Information Broadcasts by Aircraft, same as CTAF but they is only 2 frequencies, related to your alititude. I guess weather has alot to do with it. I think TIBA is dangerous but even worse when there is weather around, just a little cloud can greatly...

    International Award Seats

Hi guys, I was having a chat with a few people at work today and we were wondering if new international awards seats become available closer to departure date? This is probably more applicable to business class but still valid for economy. Do more business class seats open up closer to...

    USA visa

Ahh I think mine is maching readable, when I went to Japan they put it under some scanner and then waved me through. I just didn't want to get there and have the wrong passport and get rejected. Maybe it's best to get the new passport? although my current one still has 5 years to go on it.....

    USA visa

I'm travelling to the USA and was curious how many people here apply for a visa before hand or participate in the visa waiver program. I'm keen on the latter but unsure how difficult the process may be. I'll have to get a new passport with a microchip in it, but would that be better than paying...

    Award flights confirmation

I booked an award flight for May this year and no points have been deducted from my account as yet. It shows under my bookings but nothing else has changed. Is this seat actually confirmed or will I only find out within 24hrs of my departure like a business class upgrade? If it is confirmed how...
