QR withholding award seats from Qantas?

While OW may have its own rules (or not), this is far from unique in the alliance world. There are also sorts of restrictions/exclusions amongst Star Alliance members having access to other alliance members, so being in an alliance doesn't generally limit that behaviour.

virgin domestic business class rewards cut in half? Have I missed something? unable to book any flight PER SYD or PER MEL for 2 using rewards

Yeah, I posted about this about a month ago in another thread, and it includes shorter distance flights e.g. SYD-BNE. Some days had been entirely wiped to only have single seats redemptions (no doubles). Even days that still have them, most flights are single seats only, but with a couple of...

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

Yeah, it and others like it are a bit misleading as a financial comparison. While getting it for $300/day is potentially feasible, it doesn't mention the trade-offs, nor the requirements and limitations of doing it for post-retirement/elderly. It also disregards that they still have fixed...

Does QF release any international premium cabins to partners anymore?

I suspect they do. But presume it's the same back of the queue as their Bronze FF. And we know how bad that is... edit: And indeed that seems correct. Found a Business flight Syd-MNL on QF 19 Oct. Checked AA and it's also available there. But yeah, Bronze QF have virtually no hope of finding a...

    VA Redemption on HA?

I'd just try again another time, with another agent. Could have been a problem with systems at that time, or with that agent. But reportedly others have done it, and equally if there were significant problems I expect it would have been reported before.

Anyone been on Disney Magic at Sea ?

Just some general commentary on pricing/cruises as you mentioned you are new. I haven't sailed Disney though kept an eye out when they announced arrival, but have experience on other mainstream lines (similar generaly standard to Disney). Basically, for cruises in general, that price is very...

Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

It's fine. The credits and sectors are counted based on when flown/earnt, not when credited. That's why they give the extra month of grace on your account for validity, to allow late credits/sectors to come through without impacting your status.

Random cheap fare: MEL-AYQ $99 each way

I think even if you disregarded the costs, if you calculate the actual free time you'll have on the ground after transits and check-ins, you'll find it's too little to make it worthwhile.

    A $5000 mistake. :(

That's just the cause of why it's incorrect.

Cruising choices with an active Pandemic

Adding a different country is always problematic as not everyone is Australian or NZ, so won't have visas. Plus on top of that there's the frequent algae cleaning issue that's prevented cruises actually scheduled to go there from going this season.

Article: Virgin Business Class: Domestic Tops International

Completely agree. Not sure why they think it acceptable to have an inferior product internationally i.e. lacking lounges than domestically.

Double Status Credits Virgin Australia Activate by 10th Feb 2023. and Travel by 31st March 2023

The card is valid for an extended period to cover delays in credits being applied, as above. But the credits actually have to been earnt before the review date, so 10 Feb in your case.

Double Status Credits Virgin Australia Activate by 10th Feb 2023. and Travel by 31st March 2023

Not reset, but they had some extensions and offers if you already had status that likely changed dates.

Not Happy P&O [Pre Paid Drinks]

As above. Never heard of a line just offering a package by the day - as obviously most people would then only buy on sea days, which would change the overall economics and pricing of it. Regarding the second option, the packages are not sold as discount options. Obviously as a flat price, if...

The Velocity Status Run Master thread

If you just want the cheapest option with the double sc promo you can get business class to OOL @$361, then a choice fare back @ $73 Tue Feb 7 for example, for <$440 (w/ disc).

Virgin's cheap business class fares are no longer that cheap

Sorry, all my searches had been for 2 pax. So they've changed it to only 1 business seat available as a reward now.

Virgin's cheap business class fares are no longer that cheap

I'm familiar with that option. As I said, VA made a change a few days back to what I wrote - yes, technically, it's due to the removal off all Business rewards rather than a change in cost, but the result is effectively the same. I noticed as had been looking and suddenly every flight on every...

Virgin's cheap business class fares are no longer that cheap

Well, they gave them another hike a few days back. All the $350 'cheapies' have now been removed from Fri-Sun, and now only apply Mon-Thu. Fri-Sun prices are bumped up to $559. These changes were also applied to business class points rewards on those days - all savers removed Fri-Sun. Now all...

Melbourne to Rome ( return ) about mid April 2023 until end of April.

For economy flights to Italy in April, I'd suggest Emirates, in the Airbus 380, as that will be best for comfort. They have good connections, and partner with Qantas to earn points. You can then compare what's cheaper, and see if the savings are worth the tradeoffs (comfort, time).

It is possible to do both upgrademe points & upgrademe bid (cash)?

There's no harm in making both bids. However, they are on separate systems, so if your award upgrade comes through, ensure you cancel your cash bid at that time. Cash upgrades are mostly done 1-2 days out. The award one would likely happen first, and once the cash bid upgrades have been issued...
