If they let you book a flexi that is not a flight that is allowed by the card ! Flexi's earn SC's the free flight does not. I would still take exception at being told how I can spend my money. Once you have a credit, it is your money. Not to mention your paying a pretty hefty cancellation...

. I have to disagree with this. It is a credit for a $ amount of travel. As long as it is booked through Amex travel, how you use it is none of their business.

As a lowly VA Platinum I couldn't get matched once. :-|

I have found that Platinum benefits depend a lot on frequency of repeat visits. My work trips to Perth are only a couple of times a year but I will choose one and stick to it.

And if the upgrade is being done immediately before the flight from the lounge and the plane is going to leave the ground with empty seats in 'J', does it really matter if there are no Z when you have a status member you could make happy. It's not as though its being requested for nothing.

Once you choose to impact more than one aircraft your pretty much choosing to upset as many people as you possibly can. This will impact traffic in the airport, lounges etc. not to mention that every flight connected with each aircraft you choose to involve will also be affected as a domino...
