I am bracing myself for some hecticness in November too. I arrive by sea in Miami on Wed 21 Nov (the day before Thanksgiving) and am booked to fly that day on DL FLL-CVG-LAX. (As a QFF, I would have preferred AA, but they were approximately 3 times the price!) I figured that this would be one...

...not to mention having to set off early on a drive to CBR to make that first flight. I have done the HBA run in one day, driving to and from CBR, but I have the benefit of residing in south-west Sydney! ;) TSV does sound nice.

Until I realised that 190 was the target, I was going to say that, depending on where you live in Sydney, you could always drive to CBR and thereby avoid the cost of the SYD-CBR-SYD flights and the overnight accommodation in CBR (but incur the additional cost of driving to CBR and parking there).

I used www.ifly.net.au to book my SYD-BCN//LAX-SYD flights for November. All of the flights are on QF flight codes.

The big problem with awards programs such as QFF is the fact that points can be earned (principally) on two fundamentally different bases: miles flown; and (nominal) dollars spent. Whilst flight distances are constant (the distance from SYD to LHR doesn't change), inflation devalues money and...

The last time I passed through TBIT was in March 2011. I seem to recall that check-in opened quite early (perhaps 14:00) for QF flights there.
