Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

My former boss was WP a case in point. Always shook his head if we were on the same flight and I was in row 4 (as SG) and he was back in 7 or 8. He also thought wine was a good way to spend his copious points. Horses for courses…. I guess in future I won’t be sitting smug in row 4. I might...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

QF26 HND-SYD. I’m pretty sure it’s the first time I’ve done a rare QF day flight from Asia to Australia. Two full meal services. Breakfast and “Lunch” served at dinner time prior to landing. I opted for all Japanese options on this flight. Starting with the yellowtail main for breakfast. The...

Qantas Increases Legroom Charges; Changes to Row 4 selection on most 737 flights

Excellent and informative post Madrooster. Anecdotally my experience with row 4 as SG aligns with what you mention at the start of your post. I used to do a lot of SYD-OOL flying and it was very rare not to be able to get row 4 given the predominantly leisure demographic on that route. (I...

The view or two from my "office"

An empty JAL Sakura Skyview Lounge at HND just after 7am opening. This fifth floor lounge often a better option than the Sakura lounge one floor below. Thankfully the argumentative bogan family who got out of the lift on the 4th floor haven’t found their way up here 🤭I just hope they aren’t in J...

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

I didn’t pay attention to see what sake was on offer…I’ve never acquired the taste for it, despite having a long connection to Japan. But if we assume they are now mostly serving wines in int’l J that would struggle to break the $25 mark, I wouldn’t be holding my breath for decent sake!

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Yep. The main was as small and insipid as it looks in the photos. The starter was more substantial really! When QF were murmuring recently about improved J catering I was wondering it that might have meant that mains would no longer be served on small side plates. Alas, that hasn’t changed.

QF59 SYD-HND 31/3. Very good service throughout the flight from CSM Ben and other crew members working in J. I chose the prawn salad which was excellent and the steak which was tough as old boots. The chocolate desert was delicious. Prior to boarding QF59, I flew MEL-SYD on QF426 at 9am...

    Qantas bus gates in Sydney

I've had a few bus gate international departures from SYD T1. It's always been a zoo and Qantas priority boarding is even more non-existent than it usually is! Though I guess the blame is with SACL rather than the airlines seeing as the downstairs space simply can't comfortably handle one full...

    Qantas seat selection issue

It's happened to me a couple of times where as a lowly Gold, I've nabbed row 4 (or equivalent) at T-80 but then been moved prior to travel. I've always assumed it was because a CL or some other more "important" person wanted 4A. I've never seen a service dog with said VIP as I shuffled further...

Qantas frequent flyer with virgin ?

What exactly do you mean “Qantas has put me on Virgin flights”? As in, due to a Qantas cancellation and no other suitable Qantas flights, Virgin was all they could accommodate you on? Or did your work travel company just put you on whatever flight their algorithms suggested? If I have a...

Too many points taken for QF2 J upgrade - how to get them back?

Good luck! FWIW, I’ve usually found the frequent flyer email team to be reasonably reliable so long as I’ve provided them with all required info.

Qantas seat selection with more options at T-80

You’d expect that to be what the SG sees, but for “emerald city” to be blocked to you - assuming your number is attached to the booking - seems odd. Have you looked at Expertflyer to see whether seats are blocked or actually occupied?

Qantas seat selection with more options at T-80

I saw a post on one of my social media feeds the other day from a very mainstream travel company (Escape travel if I recall correctly) spruiking T-80 to the masses. Word may have got out that it's a thing :( Edit to add that when I re-found the post just now on FB (escape.com.au) the grand...

AMEX Application Process Failures + Contact

FWIW, after an AMEX denial last year for a QFF card, I was approved quickly and easily recently for a Velocity branded one (with 100k points that I'll spend on SQ) No material change to my financial circumstances, credit rating nor number of other current cards.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

SYD-MEL evening flight 4/1/24. Choice of chicken teriyaki or a beef salad. The chicken was pretty good but reminiscent of Y catering a decade or two ago. Good to see decent sourdough and the posh butter back on the tray. Quick, efficient, text book service from the CSM with proactive offers of...

Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

Xmas day upgrade successful for myself (SG) and +1 (NB) on QF101 SYD-NAN. Notified at T-26. Exceptional service from the CSM on this flight. Fingers crossed for success again on the flight home in a few days.

The view or two from my "office"

A very different marine environment to the one RooFlyer is presently enjoying. Great Sea Reef, Fiji is the third longest reef in the world. Count the shades of blue. Superb snorkelling in two spots this morning. Sadly a slight head cold this week probably precludes diving.

The view or two from my "office"

After exceptional service in J on QF101 on Xmas day, plus-one and I made our way from Nadi to Nukubati Island off the NW coast of Vanua Levu. It turns out we’re the only guests in this stunning eco resort for the whole week we’re here. I’m possibly not ever going back to my actual dull, grey office.

Qantas Call Centre Long Wait Times

I find it remarkable that QF thinks that it does not need to look after any of its most-premium customers. Full stop. [edited it for you!! :D ] But seriously, not even a lowly not-even-bronze should be playing phone agent lottery. If you call a company, the person you speak to should either be...
