The upshot I rang Qantas and as I was the travel arranger, selected the refund option. Turns out that I had no rights to consent to a refund from the Flight credit So my friend dropped in and gave consent during the call The end result $150 cancellation fee No idea how it was calculated...

Yeah I’d seen that That’s just free cash for QF if the person doesn’t use the flight credit… Alternatively it’s an expensive way to score a neighbour free seat. Book the spare seat in their name and then do a no show at the boarding gate….

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

Centrelink provisions don’t care that much about how you spend your super. The moment it exits the super fund, my understanding is it’s “counted as an asset for the next 5 years unless it’s clearly documented as being spent on your home and furnishings or substantial personal expenses like...

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

Effectively Corporate tax is a PAYE-D system where the “income tax” is “transferred” from the company to the individual shareholder Spawned dividend washing and retirees from 2008 gained tax-free super so those “small refunds” became big refunds as None of the superannuation withdrawals...

As Australian based programs, short of being Able to get out of Oz, the sweet spots offshore because there are less QFF members vying for the tics (eg like Iberia (Vigo to Marrakech via Madrid or Munich or Düsseldorf) etc

Are the days of Points collecting over?

Unless it’s ADL-CBR where the base fare is $290 (direct) and the points are 12k + $77…. Some of the co-payments hardly make it worthwhile if the fare is <$200

Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

I was Gold when I received LTG so I don’t know the answer. I do know when you drop from WP they soft land and send a new Gold card Presumably if you get to LTG while WP they’d notify you of LTG and give you the option to receive the LTG card
