    WP and anytime lounge access

Can anyone tell me, do they still scan your boarding pass or just sight your Platinum card if you are utilising anytime access when travelling on another carrier?

Best Flights are they any good

In practical terms it is hardly worth bothering for a grand total of $21. Particularly if that $21 represents only a small percentage of your overall trip spend. What that promotion does do is set FC up as the price leader in the minds of consumers, many of whom may never shop around. WT

    Amex-Webjet tie-up

The burn rate isn't great, but relative to the other non frequent flyer point redemption offers, it is ok. It is a better rate than for gift vouchers and for many of the physical products from the 'store'. That said, it is not an option that I would take up. WT

    best use of Amex points

Hi dragoman, If you don't want to decide now, then you can always keep them in Amex and then at a later date upgrade to the Plat Charge. When signed up for the Charge card, your point balance will be transferred to the Ascent Premium program and you will be able to transfer to QF. WT

Best Flights are they any good

Doesn't seem to match does it. In the last couple of years, the $A never fell 30% relative to the $US, so how can you justify a 30% increase?! I also find it interesting that a change fee can be greater than the initial 'service' fee for making the booking. Surely there cannot be MORE work in...

new member QF LAX J advice

IMO, the Air Pacific J product is a bit ordinary. Nothing like what you get (but pay for commensurately for) on a QF A380. The Air Pacific option would be worthwhile from a SC point of view, but would also increase your total journey time. Are you allowed to travel Premium Economy on QF...

QF may pull out of LHR

For there to be much truth to it, QF would have to be having capacity constraints into LHR. With the 380 gradually taking over from the 744, that shouldn't be a problem for a while. And I still don't think QF use all their LHR slots, so there might be some more room there too. Additional ports...

AMEX looking in to using PIN

+1 for PIN. Don't you still have the option to sign even if you have a PIN on your card? That way those who want to continue signing (or whatever reason) can do so, while those who want to use a PIN can as well. Everybody's happy!

    QF121 TODAY SAT 7 August

All the QF B737-800's can do RNAV approaches. Qantas was the first airline in the Southern Hemisphere to have their aircraft fitted and their crews trained to be able to do these approaches (I think it was only Alaskan that beat them to it in the Northern Hemisphere). Assuming all the...

QF Platinum Partner Gold - What now?

    Safety, children and oxygen masks

If my kid was over the aisle and they didn't fit a mask, I would get up! Yes the aircraft will descend quickly, but it won't always be able to descend immediately to an altitude that allows the cabin crew to begin assisting passengers. On most of the Asia-Europe routings, you could be without...

    Next Generation Check In

Got my new card last week. Have always been a hopeless paper aeroplane technician, so didn't even bother trying that! What do people think of the new design of the cards? No more embossed print - rather its just printed on. And does the 'Q' in the corner actually do anything or is it all about...

    Safety, children and oxygen masks

The time you have is a function of the altitude of the aircraft when it depressurises. The 15 seconds is if the aircraft depressurises at 40,000ft. Few flights, particulalry long-haul flights, ever get to 40,000ft. At 35,000ft it's about 45 seconds. Even longer if the aircraft is lower. I...

767-338 Domestic Short Haul now has laptop power in J

VH-OJI is not a 767. All the OJ registrations are 747s. Did the aircraft have the 'new' domestic business class seats with in arm entertainment screens? Good that they are finally updating the domestic product. WT

Why does QF collect headsets in Y cabin up to an hour before landing???

I believe Gate-to-Gate IFE will be launched on the A380 very soon, so there will no longer be headset collection for those flights. Pax will be able to use the full AVOD from boarding to disembarkation. No more missing out on the last bit of the movie because my headset was collected early! WT

Free Amex flight now with Virgin Blue [ONLY] effective Oct 1

I'm dreaming, but maybe it will be in their new Business Class  Am happy with the increased number of destinations. And you get access to the Blue Lounge with the Priority Pass, so whilst I'd prefer QF, I think I'll manage. WT
