Awful Qantas Business Class Check-In Experience for Ill Wife

For whatever it counts, my experience in Brisbane for special assistance with QF has been top notch. Admittedly I did ring beforehand and get the lowdown, as well as checking in person on a prior rip with checkin staff. Basically, you can park in a special disabled area on the roadway across...

Hong kong, what to do, where to stay

In October stayed 5 nights at East Hotel located in Tai Koo. Excellent location-attached to an MTR station and massive shopping centre. Used their transfer service from HKIA after arriving from an overnight flight. Felt very well looked after and they got us into our room ASAP even though we...

Is the Flight Centre low price guarantee worth anything?

And I expect that if they thought they were going to be up for a gratis airfare they would beat the quote by a dollar. As previously said, that guarantee is just an effective marketing tool, hardly substantive nor enticing to use Fright Centre.

    Qantas Fleet Grounded 29/10

The thought that Joyce is a tool comes to mind. But the same must be said of the QF board to endorse such an action.

    Choice of Currency

Thanks guys. So it is still preferable to choose the local currency when fx fees etc are included?

    Romantic Hong Kong Resturant

I agree the sound and light show is not especially impressive. Interestingly, we were surveyed leaving HKIA by a tourist bureau staff member. She said our response was not unusual. Didn't eat anywhere fancy-lots of well priced options. Would stay away from the Jumbo floating seafood restaurant...

    Choice of Currency

Recently in Hong Kong and paying by MasterCard (Ignite, nothing fancy) sometimes the Eftpos machine gave the choice of being charged in AUD or HKD. What are people's thoughts on which is best to choose?

LHR Fast Track and HKG Transit

Thanks NM. Didn't realize a second transit area existed. Just followed the signs from what seemed a distant gate.

LHR Fast Track and HKG Transit

Wow, five minutes to get through security. Three weeks ago the queue would have been 50metres long at least. And I had to walk the length of it to get to the end and then traipse that length of the queue. This was about 730am after a CX flight from BNE. Reminded me of SYD at a similar time. But...

Checking bags through to final destination

You are spot-on regarding BNE meant to be GLT in my post, Ozbeachbabe. I just couldn't find a way to edit it. And your answer matches my thoughts exactly regarding the CSA in GLT.

Checking bags through to final destination

It will be interesting to see what happens for our return ex HKG. We arrive in BNE 2330 on CX and fly out to BNE the next morning. Will they be tagged all the way through (knowing we claim and clear customs-unless on strike) or not?

Checking bags through to final destination

Based on the link to the QF interline policy, the following should have allowed bags to be transferred all the way through shouldn't it? Me: check in at GLT. bags tagged QF BNE-CX HKG through to KTM Flight ex GLT 1750, flight ex BNE 0050 next morning. Last I saw of the bag was GLT until I...

    What are Strategic up to?

Yes, Strategic's departure from GLT is sad. They offered great service and a fast, smooth, quiet flight. Pity their pockets weren't deep enough to continue operating in opposition to QF. VA coming will be smaller, slower, noisier aircraft with fare "option" of fare++++extras and still only two...

Hi, Just wondering if anyone knows any legit promotion codes whch allow discounts for Novotel in Hong Kong for October. Booking direct on their website comes out pretty much the same as expedia, agoda etc. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Sin/hkg accommodation bookings

Hi Just wondering if people have a general understanding of what's the best way of booking a place to stay in either SIN or HKG for 5 or so nights late Sept/early October. Still finalising flights to/from KTM. Interested if people generally find booking direct or via TA or using the airline...

    Flight Centre Email Addresses

Hi, Can anyone tell me how Flight Centre staff have their email addresses set out? A new recruit gave me her business card-she crossed out the original owner's name and inserted her own, and just completely texta'd out the original email address. I'm not planning on booking with them, just...

    Travel to Rockhampton + Mackay

Hey led-zep, Nothing to worry about and quite novel travelling on the Dash 8s and similar aircraft. Until about 2 months ago when Strategic entered the market with their A320 jets , all GLT had were props :)

Manners, Attitude and Etiquete in Qantas Lounges

Since being on a glorious Holland America line cruise, I always aim to use a paper towel when opening such doors. On the cruise, they either had automatically opening doors or cloth hand towels specifically located near the door for just this purpose. Amazing research showing at a medical...

Where have you lost your passport and did you get it back?

I have only one instance of a lost passport, and it wasn't mine. I was taking a goup of 15 year old students to Vanuatu ten or so years ago so the details are a bit hazy. Flying Air Vanuatu from BNE, we arrived at VLI and deplaned. We were queued at immigration and, sure enough, one of the boys...
