LCC challenging backpackers for cheap accomidation

They opened this up a while ago. It's based on the same principles, and in a way seems like a good idea, ie you only pay for what you want to use. In-room advertising might be a bit too much though. To some degree, 1* and backpacker places run to the same concept, if you want luxuries like...

crazy LAX-SYD on QF First $1200!!!!

I'm not a lawyer, but I thought most contracts had a "E&OE" (Errors and Ommissions Excepted) type clauses. I think in your example, the difference is that the case of beer has been sold, and you've walked out of the store, whereas (I assume) the travel had yet to commence. I think it would...

YVR for Olympics - late stage booking - should we?

Whether you want to do this or not is entirely up to you. It's your money and time, and if doing this will give you pleasure, then by all means go for it. But if you think that the $10K can be used for better things, then that is your answer. Not wanting to sound like an economist, your...

US Visa question - Regarding court findings

OK, some real facts, from the Victorian police website (obvioulsy this may differ in other states). • If the individual was an adult (eighteen years or over*) when last found guilty of an offence and ten years have elapsed, no details of previous offences will be released. • If the individual...

US Visa question - Regarding court findings

I never said it would nor would not be approved, I said it might not be approved, and if it doesn't get approved, then other consequences will follow on from that (ie, he'll always have on his record for the next US trip that a visa was denied), so that the OP should think carefully about his...

Changing from D to A on an AONE4

But the OP isn't changing the booking class per se, the OP had a AONEx ticket in the first place, but if A isn't available, you get put into the next lower cabin. Therefore, if you change flights (and these are within the rules) and availability in the cabin your purchased is available, then...

Changing from D to A on an AONE4

My understanding is that if you have an AONEX, then if A is available you can get booked into that, otherwise if A is not available then you get downgraded, to D or L. If you change your flights (not routes) to another flight with A availability, although your last seat was a D or L, then you...

US Visa question - Regarding court findings

They will hold it against you, and you won't get a visa for months (if you do get a visa - they may reject it, in which case you'll have even more difficulty getting in next time to other countries, countries don't like it if you've been denied a visa in another country). If you've bought...

US Visa question - Regarding court findings

If you were under 18, my understanding is that all records are destroyed when you turn 18?

US Visa question - Regarding court findings

If you want my honest opinion, I wouldn't mention any of these. If you try to get a visa, it will take months. If you have not received a conviction (I think you mean no conviction was recorded?), then it shouldn't be on any records (if I understand the system correctly). Also, such...

    QF PE Sale

Didn't realise that. The booking rules for a Y+ ex HKG to SYD, then transferring to Y to MEL states "Classed as Premium Economy when Status Credits are earned on this fare", so in theory the SYD->MEL leg would be at full Y/Y+ rates. Therefore BHK, as Y is full economy but T isn't full Y+?

    QF PE Sale

It probably wouldn't be Y, as T ex HKG is the discount premium economy(?), so I doubt then they'd put it into fully flexible econ on the domestic leg. But all other econ classes get the same points/SCs anyway, so it's a bit moot which class connections book into?

    QF PE Sale

It's called supply and demand. An airlines inventory can't be stored up, so when a flight has left, any left over seats are wasted. Hence sales to drum up a bit of business, but during peak times when the flights are full, then there is no need for a sale.

LHR to LAX Return cheaper then One way?

for some reason, one-ways can be very expensive, and sometimes more than a return (as you've discovered). I'd suggest to your friend that you purchase a return, and he contribute 1/2 of the ticketed price - I doubt it's going to get better.

    QF PE Sale

My experience with QF is that there are 2 dedicated cabin crew, but during the middle of the flight one of them disappears (assume for a break) while there is another (from business?) who gets assigned for answering the call buttons.

Requesting points upgrade: PE or J?

You'll get QF lounge access in MEL if the upgrade comes through, but you won't get any lounge access in HKG. I know there are paid lounges beyond immigration, not sure in the airport itself though. Depending on the length of your stop over, getting through HKG immigration is pretty easy...

How to get to Europe and back with no overnight flights

Try the following routing: PER->SYD->HKG->LHR->somewhere in europe->LHR->JKF//LGA/EWR->HNL->SYD->PER. This can be done using all "day" flights, leaving in the morning (7-9ish). If you fly direct from NYC to HNL, you'll need to leave from a different airport, but you can do JFK->LAX->HNL, with a...

Requesting points upgrade: PE or J?

No, you can't do upgrades at the check-in. AFAIK, using OLCI won't make a difference, it will either have come through or not.

Requesting points upgrade: PE or J?

QF29 leaves Melbourne about midnight, so is essentially a night flight. While I think QF PE is quite good, the seats are not "lie flat", so if you want to sleep, take the J seats. Whether you can get a PE if J fails, I don't know. Perhaps a call to QF? Love to know the answer BTW.

How to get to Europe and back with no overnight flights

It's possible, from my knowledge, to get to London as "day" flights, with a overnight stop somewhere in Asia. But the return will be problematic, as far as I'm aware, the flights leave about midday, which then overnights and arrives early morning in Asia, or else they leave in the evenings...
