Flights booked, points not deducted ?

Do check that your credit card has been charged though - if it hasn't, it may mean a SNAFU and you won't have a ticket. I learnt this the hard way.

The great hand luggage only challenge!!!

Re: Travelling internationally with carry on only... Because of its bulkiness, demin takes longer to dry, so depending on what your facilities are, you may be better with 2 pairs of jeans made of a lighter material.

The great hand luggage only challenge!!!

Re: Travelling internationally with carry on only... Yep, it's doable. I quite often go to the US/elsewhere with just carry-on. I normally take about 1 week's worth of clothing and use laudromats. Only thing to be aware of is customs got a bit funny with my partner for going to the US...

    Qantas flags higher airfares

You've forgotten the supply side. When airfares decrease, supply of seats should also decrease (which we've seen, F being one such casualty, the reduction of the frequency of flights) leading to a new price equilibrium

    Qantas flags higher airfares

I'm not sure this is a fair assessment of QF's future. From my understanding (and I'm sure someone will correct me) QF had something like 4 daily flights to London and 1 to Frankfurt, and 5 to LA, whereas only 1 a day each (if that) to Argentina and South Africa. Therefore, UK and US would be...

    dual australian/uk passports

I've been to Moscow and Tripoli, and went through the document check. Never with my UK passport. I'm guessing they will check if it's a non-VWP passport though.

    dual australian/uk passports

Given that BA has a lot of flights to the US, and encourages OLCI, along with passengers using the VWP, then it can't be much of a problem for BA. I understand that for citizens of countries that need visas, the airline can get fined if they allow a passenger to board without a visa.

    dual australian/uk passports

I've entered the US from London on a one-way points flight on BA, had a return booked back to the UK on AA, the only connection between these both was that they were on my QF website. No checks at LHR, and I wasn't asked about my return at US immigration.

    dual australian/uk passports

Yes, but iwhat f you arrive on a UK or AU passport to the US?

    dual australian/uk passports

I'm not sure this is correct. The check in agents in australia will just check that you can enter the US, surely they won't care what happens beyond that. Given that AU and UK passports can use the VWP, then there is nothing to check for. The US authorities might want proof of return or...

    dual australian/uk passports

When you go through australian immigration, use your australian passport (otherwise they'll ask how you entered the country/where's your visa etc). You can use your british passport with the airlines for the purposes of the VWP etc into the US. I haven't flown from AU to US for some time (4...

    Syd- LHR with a baby

Having a bottle handy for take off also is useful when you're trapped in the seat taxiing and they want to get up and run around. Also, as they get a bit older, get the window seats, I've used that many times to provide cheap distractions until the seat belt sign goes off (they find it...

    Syd- LHR with a baby

Our daughter is almost 2, and we first travelled long haul with her when she was about 6 weeks old, and there have been lots of trips in between. Some tips: 1) get the lounge access, it'll make life a lot easier 2) don't bother breaking the trip up, it will just make it more painful 3) try to...

    QF PE with a 3yo?

Our daughter is not yet 2, so she's so far travelled in our laps (less so recently... on recent trips, she's spent the whole time going up and down those bloody 747 stairs). What I've found is that the flight attendants tend to be more attentive and helpful.

    Incoming Passenger Card and declarations

To be safest, get your doctor to write a letter explaining what the drug is and what it's for.

    Incoming Passenger Card and declarations

The customs officers are usually pretty nice. When in the queue, and if you're not sure about the wood in the pencils (I have no idea if they're allowed or not), walk up to one of them and just ask. If in doubt, always declare, because if they catch you out, then that is where people get into...

    Best Oneworld DONEx Option?

But this can be made up by the extra segment.
  18. D

    Best Oneworld DONEx Option?

Unfortunately yes. But if it has a single flight number, then that only counts as 1 segment (ie, you've got 15 more to play with. If it is 2 flight numbers, you only have 14 to play with).

What to do with bags for 15hrs in Hong Kong

I have checked luggage through from LHR to Penang, out on QF, changing to CX, and they were on separate tickets; and I didn't even have a boarding pass for the second flight. When I got to HKG, I went to the transfers desk, got my second boarding pass, said I'd checked luggage through from LHR...

Better QF Ground Service / Benefits?

It's not controversial. In the US and Europe, you can use the fast track security lines if you're OWE (and the airline is able to offer this service. I remember Rome airport having a fast track security, but only alitalia premium passengers were allowed to use it).
