Qantas, Virgin, Qatar called to assist with Israel repatriation flights

Possibly crew related because for QF1/QF2 A380 the crew that work the LHR-SIN sectors are UK-based (and paid less than the Australian-based crew who operate SIN-SYD).

Qantas, Virgin, Qatar called to assist with Israel repatriation flights

Can see ASY1168 has just left TLV heading back to LHR. Interestingly has been a few repatriation flights today. Canada and France are both flying their citizens to Athens. Switzerland and Brazil are taking theirs home - to Zurich and Rio De Janeiro.

    New controversial work travel policy

Moving from Australia to the UK some years ago, I found it quite unusual that sharing rooms on corporate travel to conferences has been the norm in most of the companies I've worked for here. What's surprised me more is that most people seem OK with it - they see it as allowing more people to...

    Cancellation Compensation

I was pleased to see in the Senate Committee report the recommendation for Australian consumer protection reform, to require airlines provide compensation to consumers whose flights are significantly delayed or cancelled, similar to the schemes that exist in Europe and North America

Qantas frequent flyers unleash over ‘almost worthless points’ in submissions to Senate

Alan Joyce mentioned in one of the Senate hearings that the French government denied Qantas' request to fly to Paris, but they do have a codeshare partnership with Air France that may help?

Qantas frequent flyers unleash over ‘almost worthless points’ in submissions to Senate

I was watching part of the Senate inquiry where one of the politician's was asking the new CEO to explain why Qantas points expire and if she thought it was unreasonable to have points expire. Not sure that's the best use of their time, on either side. It's also not unique to Qantas or airlines...

Article: Reward Seat Release Patterns Have Changed Fundamentally

Depends where you're going. I have regularly flown to European countries on one-way tickets and no one bats an eyelid. I also fly back to the UK on my Australian passport and have only once been asked if I was a resident of the UK or if I had onward travel from there - that was flying back from...

QF76 29 September - when your business class flight arrives at the Qantas Freight terminal

Maybe I've become desensitised flying around the northern hemisphere... bus gates are very common in this part of the world. BA at Heathrow are particularly bad at it, sometimes feels like getting from the runway to the terminal takes longer than the flight did.

Article: Qantas’ Mysterious Downgrade Compensation Policy

If only the politicians running this Aviation Senate Inquiry could step back and look at the bigger picture and consider something like this. Canada and the US have similar laws too.

QFF Bonus Status Credits/Points gift on back of Aug 2023 profit

I got offered 1000 points or 30 SC. I've already retained Platinum this year, so don't need the 30 SC, but 1000 points seems even more useless to me. Hard to choose.

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

They moved me from a post paid plan to a plan which is automatic direct debit in advance, and due to this I lost access to the old billing page where you could pay manually, and now I can't figure out how to pay my overdue bill from the old plan that they keep sending me SMS reminders for with...

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

Optus offered to move me onto the Qantas $79 plan (with 5GB/month included roaming data) with a $30 discount for 12 months, which I accepted to resolve my TIO escalated complaint. This was after weeks of back and forth with a "customer resolution expert" who initially just said everything I...

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

12 months is the length of the $20 discount being offered. Hence, some would stay until that $20 monthly discount expires.

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

They don't, but as part of my complaint resolution I was told at first that my roaming inclusions would be moved across to the Choice plan, then they backtracked and said the system doesn't allow roaming inclusion add-ons to the Choice plans, and they are the only plans available now, so bad...

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

My "expert" has come back saying he found the Qantas plan (after I sent him a link to it) and he tried to switch my account onto it, but says "the system would not allow me to change as it needs a Qantas customer ID which only comes from being a new customer which unfortunately rules this plan...

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

Similar bad news from my "customer resolution expert". He's emailed me that "unfortunately the system rules do not allow any roaming inclusions to be added to the new plans otherwise I would be able to" So I cheekily asked how does the system allow it on the Qantas plan -- he said he'd never...

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

Submitted TIO form Friday, and just now been contacted by an Optus "customer resolution expert" based in Adelaide. Promising and friendly chat, he said keeping the old plan was not possible but suggested he could get my roaming inclusions moved across to the new plan, but needed to check a few...

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

I was offered a $20 discount for 6 months. Interesting that you got 12 months! For my complaint they ignored everything I asked about roaming. I think I will refer it to the TIO.

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

Thanks for this suggestion, I've just done something similar, submitted a complaint via their online form and said I would like to continue with my current plan, or if that is not possible, to have the international roaming inclusions of my current plan added on to the new plan at no extra cost.

Optus new $50 SIM only with roaming

I just got this email too, the only thing I really care about is losing the included roaming - having roaming calls/SMS on my Australian number whilst living overseas is more important than the data (I have a UK phone with unlimited data). If anyone is successful in keeping the included roaming...
