It's an expectation thing. People rightly or wrongly are expecting JQ or VA will have issues and be difficult to deal with. So it's not really news when those expectations are met. On the other hand, most of Australia expects Qantas won't ever have those issues, so it becomes news when they do.

I was made to jump through similar hoops for a couple of BA flights that I didn't have the boarding passes for. BA actually have a simple webform to request a proof letter which they'll email to you as a PDF and you can forward that on to QFF.

I'm based in London now so I probably average 4 BA sectors a month - no problem there! To get my 4 QF flights a year I do the annual trip to Aus in QF flights.

I've already sent them, and some did get credited after that, but not all of them. I guess I'll try re-sending the ones still missing and see what happens.
