    Domestic Inflight meals

Mmmmm. Lamb shanks! I'd be pleased with that one. Thanks for sharing your experiences, everyone! (My favourite item eaten on a plane was lime icecream, enjoyed on a rare Bus class QF Award flight. Hope it reappears next time I spend the big points!)

    Domestic Inflight meals

Recent discussion of Darwin restaurants and Anat0l's fabulous trip report, complete with menu options and photos of inflight and lounge food, got me thinking. (I'm the type of person who often stops to read menus in the windows of restaurants and cafes). Now, I am of the firm opinion that the...

    QFF points redemption value?

If you're going to be buying the earrings anyway, maybe using points to obtain them more cheaply or completely might be a good idea. I know that items from the redemption stores can be inflated in relative terms, if you consider how much you've spent to get the points, but if you've got the...

    Darwin... QF and restaurants

A former Darwin local recommended the Hanuman as THE place to eat before I went 2 years ago. I never did get there as the one time I had free, it wasn't open, but I heard good things about it... and as the name has cropped up here several times, it seems like a good choice. The same person...

    Tullamarine Transport

For me, it would take a pretty direct and fabulous airport train service to beat Skybus. Coming from country Victoria, I Vline it in to Southern Cross (a very much nicer place than it's previous incarnation as Spencer street station), then a brisk stroll with wheely suitcase down to the Skybus...

    Spontaneous trips

Well, not very spontaneous in comparison to many stories here, but fairly spontaneous for ME! (I'm a worrier / planner) A few years ago I had two weeks leave booked, expecting to be driver/ carer etc for parent post-surgery. Ten days before leave, the surgery was postponed, leaving me with time...

    Urgent HELP!! :(

As far as I'm aware (from my many hours of lurking here!), the difference is oneworld status. No real difference if you travel domestically but makes a difference if you travel O.S. on airlines like CX. I'm pretty sure the SGs get oneworld lounge access while QC is only good for when travelling...

Newbie Question - Are points programs worth it?

As others have said, it depends on your circumstances. Though I'm a travel junkie, I don't actually get to fly that much ( dream and read about it more than actually doing it!). Most years I fly, at best, two or three trips a year. I lost all my slowly accumulated Ansett points when they...

Famous people seen (or even met) whilst flying or lounging

Spotted Michelle Timms across the aisle from me on a domestic flight back in her playing days. A few years ago I was sprinting for the Skybus at MEL when something about a tall, distinguished-looking elderly gent caught my eye. I looked up (... and up... I'm about 4 foot nothing and he's...

    Airline Food Fans Unite

Bit of a fan of airline food myself. Fond memories of enjoying a particularly delicious lime icecream while watching Harry Potter in QF J class SYDCNS or DRWCNS in 2007! (In fact ALL of the food on my J class adventure MELSYD / SYDCNS / CNSDRW - travelling on Award booking and the ONLY time...

QANTAS - upgrade to FIRST class

Cheeseburger as in-flight MEAL in BUSINESS class? Hmmmm! Little Bronzey me, who has only ever travelled Bus class on three domestic sectors of a FF booking, would have been MOST disappointed. :(

    Qantas/BA: These Are My Favourite Things (QF A380 J, BA 777 J, QF 744 F)

What a fabulous experience! Great trip report (always very interested to see the photos of meals and drinks!).

Public Servants In Virgin Blue Brush Off

I have to agree, based on my experience. I was booked on DJ November last year. I rang their call centre at an off-peak time (probably one weekend) several weeks before travel to link two bookings so that there was a change of being seated with my travel companions. I've done this several...

    Jetstar: 160kg passenger's flight fury

Stryker, I share your sentiment (but don't like our chances!). Maybe I could SWALLOW that extra couple of books.....

    Jetstar: 160kg passenger's flight fury

Hmmm! In such a world, short little me, at about 38kg, could take a HECK of a lot of luggage (hauling it off the Skybus and the luggage carousel could be a bit of a challenge! Maybe I could finance my travel by auctioning off some of my luggage allowance to fellow passengers.)

US Airways flight crashes in New York

Dare I say wouldn't get that at Virgin?!

US Airways flight crashes in New York

Have to agree with Mal. Chivalry on the part of well-meaning male passengers doesn't make for efficient, safe evacuation. The rapid filing out of all with those nearest the exit out first increases the chances of the best outcome for all. 'tis the 21st century and logic should prevail.

US Airways flight crashes in New York

Amazing work on the part of the pilot! From one report I heard it also sounds like, along with the crew, some of the passengers were pretty proactive in getting everyone out quickly too. This incident is a good illustration of why it's important to have able-bodied pax in the exit rows (not...

    What's your little luxury item?

    1. Own teabags (Twinnings or pot-strength Dilmah); it's a rare hotel / motel that supplies decent tea in rooms. 2. Crabtree and Evelyn Jojoba bodywash /shower gel 3. Silk sleep sheet; purchased from Aussie Disposals years ago when I was off on a semi-camping tour. It was meant to line the...
