Yes, Life QC was withdrawn about 2 years ago. My memory of Life QC being about $4200 relates to about that time.

The "offer" I got seems to be advising that there would be no increase in fee if I did take up the new AMEX card in addition to the Visa, but that my earn rate on the Visa will drop regardless. (Interesting that the guy told you that your Visa rate would stay the same!)

Do you still have your ticket / eticket itinerary? If it has the exact class (J, I etc) listed for each of the flights that might help if you send it to them with a covering explanation.

Dare I say that the size of this koala, rather than the version considered earlier, will make lugging it half-way across the world far more "bearable"?!

Apparently, it can be about six weeks from date of stay before points reach your QF FF account. If it gets to more than six weeks, you need to give Qantas Holidays a call. (I'm waiting on hotel stay points - booked via QF Holidays / Ready Rooms - myself, hence my interest / investigation)

I'm pretty sure that the Emerald to Blackwater route was considered so short that it was excluded from points earning for years.... until the revamp of the QF FF program (about 2001?) when it suddenly started to earn 1000 points due to the 1000 pt minimum.

Meals on my recent flights were in keeping with the descriptions given by others in reply to my earlier query. MEL/ADL Y cls lunch was the frequently served ham, cheese and pickle sandwich. Fresh and just enough on such a short flight. ADL /PER Y cls dinner was a mild beef curry with rice...

Don't think Thai are actually part of the QF FF program so don't think you would get points for that (unless, of course, it's a codeshare and you're ticketed on QF. Do QF codeshare with Thai?) Does sound like a great trip though!

Eeek! That would be a tad worrying if you happened to be a pasenger looking out of the window at the time. Sounds like all handled well by crew. (Didn't see this all over the news tonight... then again, it wasn't QF)
