Perth Airport Underground Rail Link one step closer

Certainly doesn’t help that the Airport line is closed for a month for repairs etc. I wouldn’t consider the replacement buses unless you enjoy taking up to an hour to get to the airport, like it took me on Monday - with the driver getting lost and then missing T3/4 completely…..

    PGR program (post-split) discussion

I use PGR quite a bit, only because the international branded hotel rates are getting too expensive for business travel allowanaces and Rydges/QT has a much better coverage in Australia and NZ especially as I do regional or edge of city travel too. (Having recently held elite tier in Hyatt...

Auckland Airport to city by bus & train

Did this in mid January - based on my experience I wouldn’t recommend it unless you love random inconvenience and life in the really slow lane. Time from leaving the Domestic Terminal (with the slowest bus trip to the international pick up stop) to arriving at Britomart, almost 1.5 hours -...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

I quite like the location of the hotel - plenty of free buses at the front door and close to walks and jogging paths. It does suffer a little from age but there is something about this place I like, even though it has fallen quite a from its heyday when Joe's Oriental Diner was there with...

Article: Qantas Auckland Lounge Upgrade: The End of an Era

Agree it is a much better lounge but disagree on the decent champagne part!

Overbooked flight - laughable compensation offered to be offloaded

This is a new one for me - CNS to BNE flight today. Flight boarded, waiting. Then an announcement from cabin manager asking if any passengers would be willing to be off-loaded as they appear to have over-booked the flight (although suspect they moved too many passengers from an earlier long...

    Finnair’s Business Class AirLounge seat

Did HEL-JFK last week in the new J product. Loved it! The designer has really thought about it (there is a video you can watch explaining it - loved the comment that some people may not like it but that’s innovation!) And as a stomach and side sleeper it would have to have been the most comfy...

SYD-SCL in LATAM J for under $3,000 return

Ditto - two chargebacks with Amex needed for LATAM, they just point blank refused to refund cancelled flight… they never responded after that. very reluctant to flying them again.

    Vinomofo Wine Deals

I order a case of Pinot Noir on 31 December - arrived in Sydney 21 Jan. AustPost tracking shows travel from Melbourne to Sydney then to Perth for just over 2 weeks (during their heat wave) and back to Sydney. Needless to say the wine was well cooked and a write off. VM were very...

Qantas to fly to Broken Hill

Been hoping QF would fly there - great news - will be booking flights today ! (Prices are (unsuprisingly) quite high for the Mon-Fri combo (although beats the $2,100 fare on Rex I had last year with a stop in DBO ...) , but excellent value for a Fri-Mon break, especially with the $189 sale...

PGR Escape & Stay Wild this Summer food and beverage terms and conditions.

I’ve had same issue at QT Canberra. I just use the credit for breakfasts and leave the discount for dinner. But yes it depends very much who you talk with - but I always ask to see the print out first as they try the ‘we will just email you the receipt trick’! I do enjoy a good robust discussion...

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

I’ve given up on Hyatt Canberra (which is what is should be called - it is no longer a Park Hyatt), this is after 120+ stays there over 10 years (and some really great memories). Over he last 3 years Recognition has been poor and even with plenty of feedback nothing changes. They have always...

No 2022 status extension for World of Hyatt members

Yes that is, sadly, correct. Not sure what they are thinking (or maybe they now have too many US-based Globalists via credit cards to worry about international members who actually need to earn nights…. ) However if you have been a Globalist for a while and made a solid attempt this year speak...

    Virgin regularly cancelling flights?

agree- this Newcastle cancellation tactic has happened to me a few times too - cancelled day before and tried to move me onto a flight 24 hours after my original booking! Ended up having to take a last minute JQ flight which cost 3 times more than the VA. Not happy and reluctant to book VA again...

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I know it is on the radar with officials. Probably not as big a concern in Sydney at the moment but I think it is clear that intentionally spreading will result in quite a significant economic impact (and spread fear) especially in some states/areas of Australia.

Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Does any body actually believe for one second the states are going to follow this? Do you think WA won’t slam down it’s border on whatever justification it feels like regardless of former agreements (like it does now) and conversely does anyone honestly think if NSW achieves 70 or 80%...
