I want to go to SIN in December. When should I book for the best fares?

Tuesdays. Other than that December is only going to get more expensive outbound. Inbound shouldn’t be too bad mid month, only after Boxing Day it usually gets more expensive. If going from SYD also check Briitish Airways. If going from MEL , Jetstar and Turkish. if PER, also can check out...

    Jetstar launches Newcastle to Bali

Isn’t that what all JQ DPS flights use now ? Whether it’s MEL, ADL, SYD, BNE, or CNS. If you’re any any overnight (or day) flight from DPS on JQ it’s on a 321LR.

Are the days of Points collecting over?

With some schemes I’ve found some sweet spots with short haul economy, particularly in Europe (UA miles on LX, BA avios on BA, VS points on SK). Flying Blue on QF . For QF points, since the introduction of Classic Plus though I’m not entirely convinced that the availability of Classic Awards...

    WN launches interline with CI

It's a basic common interlining agreement, like CI have with AA, AS, B6, DL, HA & UA. A long long way from any sort of alliance.

    Wise debit card

I tend to leave residual amounts in Wise, where it's not worth the bother to move back. Anything significant left over I move back to a bricks and mortar bank account. At the end of the day though the sums I have in wise and ER fluctuations are insignificant compared to say super or my shares.

    Wise debit card

I always thought it took the currency of payment, then from your smallest balance in other currencies. But I could be wrong (or it could have been a coincidence). As it takes mere seconds to move money to/from jars they seem to be best place to keep everything until you need that currency.

    Asia excluded from Qantas-Emirates partnership?

Well Emirates in no longer flying between Australia and Asia, so I guess that makes sense. In terms of codeshares, Changi website still lists all Australia-SIN Qantas flights with EK codeshares and these can be purchased on EK website. It also still shoes EK flights from SIN to DXB with QF...

    What cheeses me off

Gen X? What’s that? Media only ever talks about Boomers and Millenials. Sometimes Gen Z but now it’s more about gen Alpha. They seem to skip every second generation.

Dublin to Sydney on a budget help required.

We also look at +/- days searches on Kayak and Skyscanner. Although be wary of some of the online agents - better to book with more reputable ones (eg Expedia) or the airline direct. And if one agents has flights at half the price of others - it’s probably too good to be true.

MH146 MEL - KUL subject to regulatory approval

It’s. MH’s third flight. It used to operate regularly in the past. I’d say the chances of approval are more a formality than anything. But who knows!

SQ A350 Economy Extra Leg Room

Due to status we access those seats for free (when they are available), and toilet problem is not an issue at all. IIRC there’s a walkway in front of the bulkhead where people tend to stand when waiting (although I could be confused here ). Pros: extra legroom (obviously) Cons: screen and...

Why You Should NOT Book flights with Booking.com or GoToGate.com

What airline was it originally and how/which airline did it change to? Did you originally book Airline A and when the ticket came through you found you were booked on Airline B? It seems very odd.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Worth a call but don’t expect success, if you do, a bonus. Presumably you discovered this by checking BKK-SYD. Such are the vagaries of married sectors that there are times when both sectors have availability but the overall journey none, and other times vice versa where neither sector is...

Article: The Car Rental Industry is Ripe for Reform

You need to be very careful when renting overseas though, particularly the US. Mostly if you rent through Australian website, or indicate your country as Australia it will include a "Loss Damage Waiver" or "Collision Damage Waiver" with an excess. However you need to check that, if booking...

    Careful around DB (Deutsche Bahn)

Sounds like the best option in this circumstance would have been to get a local train to Innsbruck and then you’re out of the DB system and rely on OBB (Austrian) and SBB to get you to Basel  What a nightmare!

Switzerland: hiking, mountains, glaciers, lakes and plenty of trains

So onto another hike in the Bernese Oberland. This involved four trains Zurich-Bern-Interlaken-Lauterbrunnen where I changed to the mountain railway to the car-free alpine resort village of Wengen. Well known winter resort. Starting at around 1250m altitude, ascended to the Kleine Scheidegg...
