    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I suspect you are taking a rational view of the risk. it’s whether or not the media overplays it and thus causes a significant number of people to rethink is the question. (Maybe it’s because I’m just reading a chapter in a book that talks about how availability of information about risk...

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

And regardless of routes and cost I wonder if we will see a reduction in appetite for travelling via Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha and thus see an increase in demand for Europe travel on QF, and carriers going via an East Asian or even North American hubs.

    Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR)

So it’s not insurance in the strict legal definition of the word, but essentially it is. The purchaser pays a premium to protect something (the money they paid for the ticket) in case they decide not to travel, whatever that reason. They pay a higher premium for nil excess, otherwise they...

    Jetstar launch Sydney-Hamilton (NZ)

A route reminiscent of Freedom Airlines 20 years ago, who were Air NZ's original LCC subsidiary ( before they became their own LCC subsidiary 🤣 .)

    Western Sydney Airport (WSI) Discussion

Asian carriers (eg SQ) strategy is probably centred on a midnight departure along the lines of those from MEL and BNE to feed their morning departure banks at their hub. Taking SQ as an example this would offer connections to SE Asia, China, India, Japan and even LHR.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

I noticed a number of European carriers were overflying Iran and have obviously stopped (LH, LX, KL). But QF and SQ weren’t. Interesting flight path on the night things went down initially for LX176, ZRH-SIN:

AFF Review: KLM Boeing 777 Economy Class (DPS-SIN)

Flew this flight just over two weeks ago, I paid about $75 AUD for the flight - with no checked luggage but the 12kg of carry on sufficed. Used Prioriry Pass to access the Concordia Lounge which had reasonable food and some nice mocktails on offer (no alcohol). The flight was packed in...

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

Is the more adventurous part of the Australian market (i.e. those that travel to more than just Bali, Bangkok & coughet) big enough to support more non-stops? I guess Japan is quite popular. Places like KBV (which sees a range of seasonal/charter services from Europe) , CEB, KLO, DAD , CXR...

Belfast City Airport (BHD) quite close to centre of Belfast.

Lufthansa/Qantas Interline Baggage Issue – Singapore Connection

This is a common issue - staff that are on airline contact centres have no experience with airport checkin. Generally speaking most legacy carriers will through check your luggage to other legacy carriers where the flights are on the one PNR. There are some carriers that don’t have such an...

What's behind your AFF user name?

I did too. The first one that came up was more Game of Thrones than cough though. John Snow. Then I ended up with Snow Dooley. What is also a bit of fun is your drag name. Grandmother's first name plus last sweet you ate (for guys anyway). Mine would be Priscilla Licorice ...

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

I use flightera.net if you know your flight number usually easy to find the registration.

    What cheeses me off

l Perhaps understandable given that Europe includes Belarus, Ukraine and Russia and these might have a difficult risk profile to some insurers. And some ambiguity around Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. With insurance better to be specific.

Why Doesn't Qantas fly to Kuala Lumpur?

With intense competition , perhaps the lack of a sizeable Malaysian community doesn't help ? BNE only has 1/3 of Malaysian born population of SYD and PER and 1/5 that of MEL. (But more than ADL, I guess ADL's lack of QF service helps MH).

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

    Now a like-for-like replacement for 3K would not be a QF/SQ arrangement but a QF/TR arrangement. 🤣

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

Much easier to take a $94.50 MH fare. As late as a 9:25pm departure and much quicker to get from T1 to T2 than T4.

Airports absurdly close to the city

For a major airport Boston Logan is relatively close.

Airports absurdly close to the city

Zurich Flughafen. 9 minutes by train from the central station and 8km as the crow flies. Biarritz, France, 2.5km.

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

I suspect you’re looking in the wrong direction here. VietJet seem to be one of the more successful LCCs in Asia right now. Time will tell I guess. None of the Asian LCCs have come close to their European counterparts, which have been really quite profitable (Easyjet, Ryanair). They...
