Rex in voluntary administration, ending all 737 services

Perhaps, rightly or wrongly, also there’s some sensitivity around a perception of free kicks to Qantas, given the media uproar around the QR capacity decision and Albo’s + 1 (at the time his son) getting CL access. At the end of the day $30m is small change compared the widespread grift in...

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

If that’s the level of risk tolerance I’d probably be more inclined to refine the via North America bit to restrict it to Canada or indeed travel via Chile or South Africa. I’m not sure which is a higher risk - QF or other carriers flying over a few stans and the Caspian Sea or US making...

SQ cancelled today’s flight to DXB as well.

    Air India B787 crash Ahmedabad

In the area I work, it seems everyone who has an opinion will tell you they know better than any of the experts. But I guess that's modern society for you. Expertise is less respected and less important than a big ego with an opinion. But thank you for your contribution to this thread - a...

    What's your golden travel rule?

Try to board a long haul flight as late as possible, unless in First Class, but especially if in economy. Don’t stress - if things don’t go as planned take it as an opportunity. (Easier said than done). In US - check luggage. Then it doesn’t matter if you’re in boarding group 1 or boarding...

Recent Experiences with Qantas' terminal transfer at SYD

Uber is about $200 from MEL to Bendigo, I imagine that wouldn't even cover meals for 2 pax for 2 days, let alone accommodation.

    SIN - BNE OVERNIGHT

Never have. I suspect never will. SQ cabins are usually (not always) quite warm, so I take a plaint t and some loose fitting shorts to change into.

SQ flights SYD-SIN in J not available at present

Maybe they’re still sorting out whether to maintain 2x 388 or not and thus are not yet releasing award seats. They tend to play around with the 388s a bit (less so to/from SYD though).

Airports absurdly close to the city

In the “big smoke” Roos seems to prefer chemists and car parks to the runways. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-16/kangaroo-checks-in-to-melbourne-airport/5026518 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-10-22/kangaroo-caught-on-the-hop-in-airport-car-park/4326338

Airports absurdly close to the city

Naples airport very close to the city too. Also, more of a town than a city, but the end of the runway at Innsbruck is about 2-2.5km from the town centre.

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Aaah the airport wouldn’t miss out on the opportunity for a bit of grift here and there. The collect fees from Skybus and of course taxis/uber etc. But I assume not from PTV.

Public Transport to our airports - what's cheapest?

Agreed it would make sense to have one in the bus stop area. Although If you’re coming from any of the terminals, stopping by at the machine in T4 is not really a detour at all.

Qantas to start flights from Darwin to Singapore

Surely they’d hotel before the BNE flight though? It departs at 12:55pm some 11 hours after the arrival from SIN at 1:40am.

    Middle East Airspace Diversions/Cancellations

Or perhaps moreso the SE Asian hubs (SQ, TG, MH), who do have constraints on routes (like QF does) - but not quite the same disadvantages as the NE Asians hubs.

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

I’ve got a feeling you’re hitting country of ticketing issue. As your ticket issued in Vietnam they are unable to re-issue out of Thailand. I could be talking out my backside but I’ve got a feeling if you wanted to change it to originating in HAN or DAD it would be fine.

Rex and its Saab 340s... what next?

What is it about aviation that seems to bring the crazies out of the woodwork? Or is it the most legal form of fraud as it is well known investors lose money with airlines?

    Airfares to US to drop?

My favourite, most likely an urban legend, when someone of Italian descent booked a flight to Roma, Qld instead of Roma, Italy.
