VA LAX Catering Debacle November 2017

I'm one of the few people who would be happy that there was no food. I haven't eaten any food (including peanuts and pretzels) on any flight for the past 4 years. I mainly just drink some water and maybe have a few red wines. I do make sure I have a proper meal before flying. The reason I do...

Am I a weirdo? I never use the IFE

I rarely watch a movie but always check out documentaries - saw a good one on Warren Buffet couple of weeks ago! I get really peeved that everyone expects the blinds to be down regardless of the time! I like to gaze out the window and occassionslly its really interesting, like a few weeks ago...

What is the attraction of lounges?

I get it that someone pays somewhere but I don't get the focus some people have on grabbing anything and everything because "I've paid for it ". Why would someone load up on food even if they're not hungry? I see my complimentary membership as a privilege and act accordingly. And the true...

What is the attraction of lounges?

Seems like airline lounges mean different things to different people from overt snobbery and being able to gorge as much as possible on freebies to a haven where a traveller can get refreshed and maybe do a bit of work. For airlines it's about engendering loyalty which works with me because...

What is the attraction of lounges?

I'm on a quick trip at the moment doing Sydney - Hong Kong - New York - Boston - Hong Kong - Manila - Hong Kong - Melbourne all in 10 days so a F lounge is almost my home! I never eat on planes no matter how long the flight so a longe snack is all I need to sustain me. I don't pay for lounge...

J pax using F shower on EK?

Revenue enhancement / cost cutting is inevitable and I no longer bother about what is on offer. I've always been disappointed with the Emerites J offering anyway so now avoid them. Never really thought that F was that great and my wife prefers J. I've come around to thinking that shorter flights...

Business class - worth the points?

If I'm travelling for business (mine) I usually go Y and spend an extra day in a super luxury hotel when I arrive to recover. Far better value than J. I have used 4 RTW and 6 USA in F all on points when having vacations and when I really have the time and inclination to indulge. The killer for...

    VA wishlist. Time for.....

I see a lot of people agonising over options and end up being disappointed anyway. All I can say is go for it and as the Advertisement says " just do it". Been maybe 4 or 5 times in first to USA with my wife and we loved the 747's because we would take centre seats and could talk. Love the...

    VA wishlist. Time for.....

This is one of the more interesting topics. I fly too much but it's for my own business. Been QF platinum for more years than I can remember and even though I'm old I still manage around 300 flight sectors a year. I have always stuck with what I know which is Qantas and by and large I think...

Feeling ripped off by Virgin advertising - we now serve food and beverage

Don't know why people are getting steamed up about airline food - eating it is not something I would want to brag about. I read the label on a Qantas cookie year ago and was shocked at the number of calories. Gave up ALL airplane food plus fried food and snacking and lost 21 kg. Feel great and...

Qantas removes Lounge Access for QP members on EK flights from Oct 1

I don't get it, if Qantas is soooo bad then why don't people switch to other airlines?? I think the answer is that other airlines have even tougher rules and a lot less service for their club members. The entitlement mentality seems to be alive and well with many Qantas customers.

Qantas removes Lounge Access for QP members on EK flights from Oct 1

The lengths that many travellers go to in order to gain an advantage forces changes such as the restrictions on lounge access that Qantas has introduced. Quite often the things that are done to gain such advantages are way outside the spirit of the QF membership so ultimately Qantas has to act...

Security - what's the most senseless confiscation?

Consistency is certainly lacking or maybe it is the calibre of many of the security personnel. I had a toy handgun made of metal in my bag which passed through the xray in Sydney domestic without any questions a couple of years ago. Also had a hacksaw blade lodged in a crevice in my briefcase...

People coming past the curtain to use the dunny, especially row-4 platinums.

So whats the big deal? Its not like there is a stampede of people moving thru business who shouldn't be there. I find the business cabin has a high percentage of wannabe's who dont pay the extra for the facilities but rather because they would like to be thought of as cool or important. My...
