Virgin Australia launches 'coronavirus status extension' plan

I'd say they absolutely would pool. The only thing which doesn't pool across is flight sectors. Even monthly flybuys SCs pool if you have it set up.

Time for a 50% off Award Seat sale?

Well I can tell you that since yesterday I can't even get through. Maybe it's a lottery system where a tiny fraction of calls get through and all the rest have to try again. Who knows!

Virgin Australia launches 'coronavirus status extension' plan

Nope u only get SC, points, sectors for flights you actually complete.

Time for a 50% off Award Seat sale?

I'm guessing u got in just before the call centre went down then.

Virgin Australia launches 'coronavirus status extension' plan

I'd agree except that it is only starting in April. Like as if the first 3 months of the year never happened? Also there is no mention of scope for it being continued if the current situation persists. Might seem like a small detail but to some I am sure it would be meaningful to hear that...

Time for a 50% off Award Seat sale?

Sadly I wouldnt be booking any flights that required $$$ outlay. No confidence that: A) The flight won't be cancelled B) That they have the ability to refund me C) That they even have the ability to answer my phone call should an issue arise I'm not interested in having my flight changed for...

Virgin Australia's Manila call centre closed [expect longer delays]

In other words you are caught in the cross fires. Good luck!

Virgin Australia's Manila call centre closed [expect longer delays]

Was this for an international route? I'm still trying to get a proper refund for bali flights and all they will offer is a travel bank. For domestic I'd say your chances (of a cash refund) are somewhere between buckleys and sweet nothing, unless it was a freedom fare of course.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Very much agree. I am counting on the federal government backing virgin and qantas through this turbulence. Let's face it, if it keeps getting worse for too much longer it will become survival of the fittest, in which case there will be no saving the airlines. But at this stage solidarity is the...

Time for a 50% off Award Seat sale?

They would be doing anything they can if they thought they had a prayer. They can't even offer refunds to passengers on international flights they are cancelling. Offering travel banks is just delaying the inevitable. As always the customers will be the first to be f!#@ed, long and hard. The...

Cancelling [VA fare rules & COVID-19 uncertainty]

The one in the Philippines or all?

Cancelling [VA fare rules & COVID-19 uncertainty]

Yes and if those emergency cases were the only ones calling up i daresay the call line wait times wouldn't be half as bad. I don't see anyone in this thread claiming to be stranded overseas, allbeit that the updated travel warnings only went into affect as of this morning.

Cancelling [VA fare rules & COVID-19 uncertainty]

Are they even still flying international routes? Given the latest travel advice of no international travel I'd assume that refunds should be automatic anyway without the need to call up. Domestic travel is obviously a different story.

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

Agreed. Why does everyone seem to assume they will still be sitting pretty after all this is over? Can't think of too many airlines that are likely to be affected worse!

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

At this point I feel like the financial fallout is going to surpass the physical/medical cost by many orders of magnitude. If the thing just instantly wiped out 2% of the population (mainly the weak and elderly) how much impact would we feel from that going forward? I know it's a sobering...

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

I'm sitting on 400k. Absolutely kicking myself for not using them up, instead I paid good $$$ to requalify for platinum (fat lot of good it's worth now lol) it's true what they say, loyalty programs are a double edge sword.

How do Hilton treat you as an Elite?

What is the $10 breakfast tax at the sydney Hilton? Is it for the full breakfast buffet, I'd assume the EL breakfast is still available? Also didn't they just finish "renovating" the lounge recently and now it's out of action again?

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

I actually wish you could transfer velocity points into flybuys lol. I wonder if you can transfer velocity to HHonors. I know the other direction is possible

Virgin Australia Financially Secure? [Now in Voluntary Administration]

You do realise that flybuys are as good as cash for groceries at Coles? Ironically something that will be a lot more useful than airline points in the coming days. And if this thing plays out as predicted Singapore Airlines will be in as much trouble as anyone.

    Refund of Points and TravelBank

A "Travel Bank" is meaningless when no one can forsee things returning to normal and when the airlines go into administration the travel banks will be worthless. I'm in the same boat myself unfortunately :(
