Virgin "enhances" redemptions, changes to points + pay

Re: Very cheap business class points + pay redemptions Thinking outside of the box... Exactly the same outcome as before (actually even better) as follows; 1. Book a Flexi fare 2. Upgrade using points. Currently Flexi -> J is 1/2 the usual points. An example for a trip I'm planning; MEL-OOL...

    Another double SC promo already?

Just got one as well. Already requalified as Plat and currently pooling SWMBO towards requalifying Plat. I will use this - 4 comp upgrades per person per year will do me nicely for MEL/SYD-PER trips - might even tempt me into pooling my daughter as well to get 12 comp upgrades for next year...

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - now 0 for 2. Pay for Business, get Premium Econom Yes, but it did take several more phone calls and emails before the refund appeared on my credit card. Apparently it takes up to 21 days for a refund to appear to a credit card and Virgin were OK with that. I...

    Priority Boarding Line Etiquitte

This proves that you are not a DYKWIAer, where being seen to enter the Priority Boarding line is actually more important than boarding quicker. I have seen this on occasion as well in the Priority Line for security screening and cannot fathom why DKYWIAers would rather queue than walk straight...

    Priority Boarding Line Etiquitte

I have not found this to be the case - whenever there is 1 FA then there is 1 queue, with the PB line empty so I can stroll up to the front of the line, get my BP scanned, and get on.

    Beware the business bogan

Also simple. 1. Put up with whatever happens since that's what you've paid for, or 2. Don't fly.

    Beware the business bogan

The solution: 1. Hate being reclined into? Sit in the first row. 2. Want to recline and not get into anyone else's space? Sit in the last row of J. Problem solved.

Domestic Qantas Club and Business Lounges

Australia, Europe/UK, Asia including China and Japan, the Indian subcontinent, Africa - hardly a small part of the world. Don't think there's much in the way of curries in North and South America, though. John - since all available food choices seem to be unsatisfactory to you, why don't you...

Domestic Qantas Club and Business Lounges

    4. The food offerings in J have been very nice lately. ps I do, however, agree about the pizza which is seriously dire. pps Nothing against the Virgin offerings (as they are steadily getting better), but the stuff on offer in the Qantas lounges is a lot better than what Virgin offer.

Domestic Qantas Club and Business Lounges

    1. Have you never tried the Luke Perry (TM) party pies? 2. Have you never tried the island dining? 3. Failing all of the above, the T2 Qantas lounge has a nice varied hot food selection

    Qantas complaints

I managed to snag one of these for my wife. 60K points instead of 90K points out of HKG on an A380. First thing she said was "but I get less status credits than if you take the FASA".

    Priority Boarding Line Etiquitte

One with a sticker that says "My other car is a Mercedes".

Then I will deliberately and passive aggressively recline upon you at mealtime for no reason at all. Except on the DJ A330 cross country where I will envy your superior seat instead. (Must be a thread somewhere around here where we can rail upon the boorish habits of the DYKWIA brigade.)

    Priority Boarding Line Etiquitte

I've found even Qantas' priority boarding queues beginning to work well (at least in MEL where currently I have the most experience of them). By the time I have strolled out of the lounge and to the gate, I find the priority queue usually empty and I can just stroll through. There's usually a...

    Status Run for 20 SC

Given you need the credits this month the hassle-free MEL-ADL-MEL or MEL-SYD-MEL Qantas options would be best, albeit not the cheapest. With Jetstar you risk the SCs not posting for weeks on end and in the meantime you drop to Silver and have to go through the hassle of reinstating gold. With a...

    Gaining my Virginity

Don't worry - the irritations will accumulate soon enough. No airline is ever irritation-free 100% of the time.

If you are flying JetStar and are WP you can access a Qantas J lounge.

    Business Class Trip Report

I almost never get addressed as Mr MichaelD in J, mainly because I have lots of consonants in a row in my surname. I applaud any flight attendant who has a go, even if they do get it very wrong, because most just look at the manifest, squint, pause, think for a while and then ask "would you like...

Domestic Qantas Club and Business Lounges

Less than you hope given the anticipation of going though that frosted glass door. Subtle differences only and varies according to the lounge. Heck, my daughter refuses the MEL J lounge as she likes the food in the MEL QP better (I disagree). SYD J lounge is very nice compared to the QP. BNE...

    Business Class Trip Report

Virgin have a long history of overpromising and underdelivering which they continue to this day. Why would a loyal Qantas J customer move to Virgin unless there is something about their product that differentiates them from Qantas? Lest I be accused of being a Qantas fanboi - when it all comes...
