    Nuts to Qantas

Don't recall ever getting nuts on a DJ flight apart from SYD-PER on the A330. Do they offer these on any other services? Interestingly, however, I was just offered (and ate) a bowl of nuts in the MEL QF J lounge, exactly like the DJ nuts. Ah, competition...good for the consumer.

Business Class Discussion - Seats/IFE/General Thoughts etc

Nah - in Virgin's case mostly it means more time behind closed curtains at the front of the cabin gossiping and giggling loudly whilst uncollected trays and empty glasses fester away. When "all the holes line up" the Virgin J experience can indeed equal or exceed the Qantas J experience. Sadly...

J cabin on non-business marketed routes

I believe the reason it's "too hard" is because J seating books into the same fare buckets that PE used to, so it really *is* too hard to sell both J and PE (since their computer can't tell one from the other - thus they can only sell J and PE seating for the same price). Their solution was to...

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for The difference is in seat width. For me, a large part of the appeal of domestic J is the seat width and the feeling of spaciousness that entails (lifting the armrest just isn't the same).

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for Wearing very thin at the moment, but J in DJ still remains excellent value for non time critical travel when booked as flexi + points. Having said that, our flight up (to OOL) was excellent and in proper J...

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for ...and another 737-800 to 737-700 substitution. Makes my wife 0 for 3 in Virgin J. Fortunately, we have been called about this one and have opted to change flights. What is extremely disturbing, however, is...

Business Class Discussion - Seats/IFE/General Thoughts etc

I have now experienced MEL-CBR in both Qantas 737-400 J and Virgin E190 "J", courtesy of just missing the last Qantas flight out of CBR. The E190 J is basically a poor man's Qantas 737-400 J at the moment. It's OK at a pinch, and there's nothing really wrong with it as such for such a short...

    beyond platinum?

Got to agree with you - I've used them so far for MEL-PER, DRW-MEL, MEL-CNS and about to use 1 for MEL-BNE-TSV where it is worth it. Wouldn't waste them on a short haul flight.

    beyond platinum?

4 x complimentary upgrades to J from Flexi is an extremely nice perk. Whilst Virgin's odd method of counting SCs is a downer, the upside is that the same applies in reverse to these comp upgrades, so; MEL-SYD-PER or MEL-BNE-TSV uses up ONE complimentary upgrade to J, not two.

Plat One : Special Events invitation

Got 2 x days at the F1. Not Sat/Sun, but very very happy nonetheless. Definitely felt the love. You can even see a fraction of my head in the promo video they shot at the Mark Webber breakfast - 'look ma, I'm famous'. Things seemed to fall into place when I updated my 'likes'. Made sure to put...

Business Class Discussion - Seats/IFE/General Thoughts etc

I take it you mean QF400, the 0600 MEL-SYD service which lately has been a 737-400. Been on that quite a bit myself this year as I often need to make early connections in SYD. To be honest, I'm usually asleep before the plane even takes off, so I'll have to try and stay awake next time to find...

Business Class Discussion - Seats/IFE/General Thoughts etc

Curious to know about your experiences here (+ cabin class). I basically fly this twice a week in J and haven't been able to fault anything with the offering in a long, long time.

Business Class Discussion - Seats/IFE/General Thoughts etc

My current solution is; 1. I no longer use Virgin to get anywhere time critical. 2. I will only pick Virgin over Qantas on specific routes where they have a better offering than Qantas. eg Virgin 737-800 vs Qantas 737-400: will pick Virgin, so long as there are multiple Virgin back-up flights...

Business Class Discussion - Seats/IFE/General Thoughts etc

I don't think Virgin actually "get" that the inconsistency is killing them. Virgin: Your plane might have J, or it might not. You might know in advance but you probably won't. When you have the IMPUDENCE to complain about their fake J, after 21 days if you're lucky you'll get a credit shell for...

Anti-elitism taken to a new low.

Did the "egalitarian" Senator mention that he and his cronies get to bypass the security theatre regardless of what he wants to make the rest of us poor sods put up with?

    Virgin Australia Fleet Update Thread.

Mostly I agree with the irritation and unacceptability of an inconsistent product in J (eg 737-800s vs 737-700s vs E190s), however, the 2 current A330s provide a perfectly acceptable J product transcontinental and these two new ones will provide an even better product. Qantas can be said to be...

Odd QF J pricing - way cheaper than usual

It sure looks like it...but Qantas haven't announced anything that I'm aware of, so I guess we'll be hearing about it soon enough.

Odd QF J pricing - way cheaper than usual

To add a bit of info based on some poking around; These fares start to appear from 30-Apr and are common 1-May onwards for; MEL-SYD $400 MEL-BNE $599 SYD-BNE $400 MEL-ADL $399 Doesn't seem to apply to CBR or PER flights though.

Odd QF J pricing - way cheaper than usual

I see this is in the Qantas list of International Business fare buckets (ref https://www.qantas.com.au/fflyer/dyn/program/classTypes) Can we divine anything from this information? (Or more precisely, use it to our advantage?)
