Unaccompanied minors not allowed in Virgin Domestic J

I remember seeing kids like that from not all that long ago...ah, memories. That's family pooling + double status credits worked to best advantage by yours truly. 0 - 760 SCs in a little over one month, but just can't make it quite over the line on my own before she resets. DJ Platinum x 3 in...

Unaccompanied minors not allowed in Virgin Domestic J

In Miss D's firm opinion, she is quite sure that J is best for her comfort, with parents seated as far away as possible.:D Just an annoyance, not mentioned at all anywhere on the Virgin website, which I got caught with after booking everything else. Means I need to use up some Virgin points for...

Unaccompanied minors not allowed in Virgin Domestic J

Just discovered this little gotcha with Virgin - unaccompanied minors go economy, back of the plane, or not at all. This contrasts to Qantas, where the response was "if you want her to go Business, she can go Business" - so long as the appropriate paperwork was completed. Miss D needs 40 SCs...

    Ask The Pilot

So why is it designed into engines at all if it does very little? Seems like a lot of added complexity for very little gain.

Does anybody fly Jetstar Business Max??

Jetstar "Business" is what it is, along with the limitations that go along with it which you need to plan for. If your expectations are of Qantas Business level service for Premium Economy pricing, you will be disappointed. Basically, it's a somewhat more comfortable seat than Economy for...

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for More information, please, on what you did (and why it was needed). I have just moved myself + baggage to an earlier J flight with Virgin simply by asking at check-in, but I would not have defined this as Fly...

Does anybody fly Jetstar Business Max??

Jetstar StarClass got me to WP1 with multiple trips to Japan, which we would always pick up during their excellent sales. From memory, we paid $400-$500 each way which was a no-brainer for leisure travel OOL/CNS-NRT/KIX. However, since they took away SCs from Business fares, we haven't flown...

    Seat Availability -v- Status

As a WP1 I am able to select any unoccupied seat in my cabin from the time I book the flight, both domestic and international. My wife and daughter, both lowly WP only, can't pick the first row until either T-80 or T-24 (I forget). If we are travelling on the same flights but with different...

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - now 0 for 2. Pay for Business, get Premium Econom Gotta say that even I think you're being a bit harsh here. I think Virgin have done the best they possibly can in this situation with their current state of play. I'd be happy to have J on the A330...

    Ask The Pilot

I have often wondered why in the flight safety video they always mention the oxygen masks dropping but do not mention that a descent to a lower flight level is highly likely to occur immediately thereafter. Surely mentioning this would lead to a little less panic amongst the passengers in such...

DJ op up given but taken away

In my experience Qantas makes me happy consistently. Virgin makes me deliriously happy some of the time and livid the rest. Fortunately, my Virgin J experiences in the last month or so have been far more consistent than at launch.

DJ op up given but taken away

This is a recurring theme with Virgin - promise the world and underdeliver, thus hugely ticking off their premium flyers. Move from Row 3 to Row 2? OpUp! Sweeeeet! +100 karma points Move from Row 2 to the back because of the "error"? -400 karma points Refund the original fare? OK, a little less...

DJ op up given but taken away

This has been DJ's problem from the launch of Business Class, and why several of us very frequent flyers here have cooled off DJ very quickly. Once one disaster has been slightly fixed (737-700s) another three appear (catering, J seat allocations being arbitrarily changed, OpUps and then...

    Chairmans Lounge (CL) experiences

Re: Pre Intl travel call from the P1 desk But not via phone. Very frustrating when despite your best efforts you are running tight to the check-in deadline. It should be simple to; Ring 131313 (or whatever) Ask to be online checked in - you have no luggage Arrive at the airport 10 minutes...

Platinum One yesterday, today, maybe tomorrow

Looks like my pet theory is not correct. My new theory will be that WP1s get more OpUps than WPs. Note that we need to exclude the aberration post grounding where OpUps were handed out like lolly water and possible aberrations with the initial WP1 launch. As a brand new WP1, AirKat should be...

Platinum One yesterday, today, maybe tomorrow

My theory is that P1s automatically OpUp if a J seat is available when the flight closes. You'll be the perfect P1 test case for this theory [I gave up on the OpUp lottery a while back and just buy J these days - you get used to it very, very quickly.]. And I also echo the amazement at making...

Who changed my pre-allocated seat and why?

Have to concur that allocated J seats with Virgin aren't as sticky as with Qantas. I have had several conversations with Virgin which saw me seated in 1A and (I believe) someone else moved. The conversations went... "Would you like to pick your seat" "Sure - I like 1A" tap...tap...tap frown...

Business Class Discussion - Seats/IFE/General Thoughts etc

Sorry - unclear from your post which of these you are finding to be happening more and more now; Nah - in Virgin's case mostly it means more time behind closed curtains at the front of the cabin gossiping and giggling loudly whilst uncollected trays and empty glasses fester away. When "all...
