Unaccompanied minors not allowed in Virgin Domestic J

MEL-SYD on Qantas in J as an unaccompanied minor. Last row of J, no one sitting next to her. Boarded last. Disembarked last. Enjoyed the mushroom soup. SYD-MEL on Virgin in J. I flew MEL-SYD-MEL for the sole reason of sitting next to her on the Virgin leg.

    Self-entry machines at The Lounge

Great strategy. I think I'll try this next time I am stuck in a lounge access line.

Anytime Lounge Access Finishing? [Yes, from 15Aug12]

Apologies to all bickering parties, but to bring this thread back on topic. I have just had a chat to one of the lounge angels in SYD and can confirm what the OP stated; Anytime Access is finishing. You will have access to the lounge Before and After Virgin flights that day. I didn't go into...

    Self-entry machines at The Lounge

Great idea! I like that Virgin check everyone coming into the Lounge, but dislike that this means there can be a queue to get in.

Anytime Lounge Access Finishing? [Yes, from 15Aug12]

Not always so black and white. I'll do 2400 SCs with DJ this status year, all in J where available, and occasionally hop into the DJ SYD lounge when I've got a small regional flight to catch (eg Rex or Aeropelican) even if I haven't flown DJ on that particular day. Am I rorting DJ? Having...

Upgrade request by CL for Gold flyer - when should it be confirmed?

Whilst I disagree, I don't think it is a battle of opinion that I will win (since there are so many more WPs than WP1s), even though it would be exceedingly rare that this would bump a WP out of an upgrade. I see it as a perk along the lines of guesting lesser status relations/friends into the...

Upgrade request by CL for Gold flyer - when should it be confirmed?

I believe the wording has changed, since I too was firmly of the belief that my WP wife's upgrade request which I made (not travelling with her) would be treated at my priority. Didn't happen in real life, so I looked at the website again and noted what appeared to be changed wording. Frankly...

Upgrade request by CL for Gold flyer - when should it be confirmed?

The P1 section of the Qantas web site explains it as I did...but I am 90% sure this has recently been reworded, as I was certainly under the impression that if I requested an upgrade for a family member they would get MY priority, not theirs. My recent experiences with this also confirmed this...

Upgrade request by CL for Gold flyer - when should it be confirmed?

Not as I understand it. WP requesting for a Silver -> at Silver priority in order WP1 requesting for a Silver -> at Silver priority but at the top of the Silver pile

Maintain Status Offers Plat/Gold Silver (Two return flights or other)‏

I got nothing, and I'll fly 2400SCs with DJ this year, so with family pooling all 3 of us will maintain Platinum. But...unlike most here, I'm not miffed at all. In fact, I think this is a GREAT idea by Virgin. I look forward to getting a similar offer if I am ever a bit short one year.

Upgrade request by CL for Gold flyer - when should it be confirmed?

The upgrade request is processed at GOLD time, but with CLP1 priority. i.e. you will be top of the GOLD pile, and not on the earlier CLP1 pile.

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for Might not even be a J plane with the conflicting info available. I remember having a very similar situation occur - phone call to move me off a non-J flight to a J flight, but website indicated J still for...

Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for 2.

Re: Virgin Business Class Lottery - Pay for Business, get Premium Economy! Now 0 for Quite bizarre. Agree with previous comments - DJ401 AND 403 tomorrow are both showing as proper J aircraft AND entirely empty apart from you in J (you look very lonely there in seat XX). ExpertFlyer shows J7...

Stripped of 2 boarding passes, Lied to and downgraded to Economy! All in one night.

Re: Stripped of 2 boarding passes, Lied to and downgraded to Economy! All in one nigh ^The feedback link on the Virgin site has a hidden "feature" where if the message is too long, it will not submit it, and you will lose your carefully worded and detailed missive. Just rubs salt into the wound...

Unaccompanied minors not allowed in Virgin Domestic J

Not actually the case - currently ExpertFlyer is showing her in an aisle seat, back of Business, with no one sitting next to her. It will be interesting to see if she does get someone (presumably female) sitting next to her in due course.

Unaccompanied minors not allowed in Virgin Domestic J

Just as a brief follow-up on this - Miss D is now set up as an unaccompanied minor on the Qantas leg of her status run. Interestingly, she has been pre-allocated the back row of Business, and unlike all of her other bookings, this seat cannot be changed.

Stripped of 2 boarding passes, Lied to and downgraded to Economy! All in one night.

Re: Stripped of 2 boarding passes, Lied to and downgraded to Economy! All in one nigh Absolutely appalling and unprofessional actions by Virgin, with errors compounding upon errors just making the situation worse. It does show where Virgin gets it wrong big time - the OP likely would have been...

Booking Complimentary Fare Upgrades for Platinum Velocity members

Clearly still not all the call centre people know (or apply) the rules. Good to know it's still worth trying to sneak one "under the radar". As I said, previously, I have had no issues with using upgrades when not travelling but the last few times I have tried I have had to either be ON the...

Booking Complimentary Fare Upgrades for Platinum Velocity members

From experience - you HAVE to be flying to use your upgrades, although you can use them for others flying with you, even if not on the same booking. Back in the early days of Platinum when the call centre didn't always know the rules, I did get some through where I was not flying, but not any more.

Good on ya! I say. Enjoy watching the DYKWIAs slink past you to the back of the plane.
