It's time for the tags to come off

That's roughly equating Gold to $8000 ($1200 x 6) worth of flying. Seems about the right value to me particularly given the paltry $ amount Virgin themselves value Gold at lately.

It's time for the tags to come off

My argument is that family pooling is a very strong incentive for ME to send an extra 1600 SCs of flying Virgin's way. Otherwise, I'd not bother since any SCs above 800 per 12 months are wasted with Virgin.

Disgusting treatment of facilities by J PAX in Melbourne

Must have been a group of Virgin status-matched Plats abusing their ATA. Oh wait...

It's time for the tags to come off

Staying on for me. 2400SCs for the year with DJ, split 3 ways (very satisfying mathematically to have 3 exact 800 SC counts in the MichaelD family come reassessment time). Only I did the required # of flights, though, so I am very interested in whether or not all 3 of us will requalify. Will...

Half Points Upgrades for Redeye Flight - Should I do it?

You ring up and ask. There is no way to tell online. Availability is pretty extensive, however.

    ATR news...

For me, Q400 vs ATR is Q400 every time unless the schedule is compelling. I dislike Q400s but HATE ATRs. YMMV. Hear, hear. That is definitely a port which could also do with some competition. And as I pointed out, when the choice is 717 vs ATR, for me it is 717 hands-down as the superior flight...

    ATR news...

717 (most likely in Row 1) vs Fokker - if you've got to go, you've got to go. May as well chose the most comfortable plane. The overarching crux of my post is that there are an awful lot of ports where Virgin provide "competition" when what they are offering is a markedly inferior product...

Business class happy hour [expired August 2012]

Re: DJ happy hour - Business Class sale $200 for many destinations Qantas International recently had a no-holds-barred Business sale with entire cabins at sale price and lots of destinations/time periods (including school holidays), something I've never seen before from Qantas, so it could...

    ATR news...

Bah humbug! The Friday pm E190 out of ABX was invariably full and a much more pleasant alternative to the Q400. Back to Qantas on that sector for me. Tamworth - some competition would be nice as Qantas tend to price gouge on the route, but... What's with Virgin putting ATRs or E190s on routes...

Half Points Upgrades for Redeye Flight - Should I do it?

The upgrade to J *IS* worth it on the red eye, though no where near as worth it as an A330 J upgrade. The 737 J seat is somewhat limited in recline, but your sleep in J will be better than in Y. Having said that, if you think you'll fall asleep at midnight in PER and wake up fresh as a daisy in...

Anytime Lounge Access Finishing? [Yes, from 15Aug12]

I think that was a large part of the problem .

    The B737-700 Dilemma!

Options: 1. Pick another flight with H availability for your sisters and buy yourself a J seat on that flight. 2. See if there is H or Q still available on the flight your sisters are on and buy that.

    The B737-700 Dilemma!

All Virgin Business Class tickets, regardless of which way you have purchased them (cash or points) can be changed to different times/dates without fees. For award type bookings you need the same fare class (Q or H from memory) available on the target flight. For cash bookings, you can change...

Stripped of 2 boarding passes, Lied to and downgraded to Economy! All in one night.

Re: Stripped of 2 boarding passes, Lied to and downgraded to Economy! All in one nigh I have had similar recent experiences with QantasLink. It used to be that tight connections would be cheerfully and competently dealt with (even to the point of having a car pick up transferring pax as we...

Anytime Lounge Access Finishing? [Yes, from 15Aug12]

ROFL!!! Same here, when the question arises in regards to connector flight times to SYD. MissD looks forward to the day when she can finally access the spa.

    Self-entry machines at The Lounge

...and now one of these machines has also appeared in SYD (where, ironically, I am enjoying ATA prior to a delayed regional flight).

Anytime Lounge Access Finishing? [Yes, from 15Aug12]

As a 2400 SC Frequent Flyer per annum with Virgin (who only tried Virgin again because of the Platinum status match) I can assure you that this is NOT improving my travel experience.

Does "one of our airline partners" include Rex?

Anytime Lounge Access Finishing? [Yes, from 15Aug12]

It was suggested to me by one of the lounge angels that I spoke with that Rex could well be considered a partner airline, so access may still be there when flying Rex.

    Self-entry machines at The Lounge

Just arrived in the MEL lounge to find this intriguing machine has made an appearance here as well (it definitely wasn't here 2 days ago). It hasn't been turned on yet.
