    Gold Coast Rumour.......or not ?

Conrad would be my guess too. I agree, Accor already have too many properties on the Gold Coast. Mariners Cove, next to the Versace property is being developed into a Ritz-Carlton and super yacht marina. The Sheraton Grand property across from the Versace is for sale so perhaps Marriott will...

Best Accor hotel in Melbourne cbd?

I like the Movenpick Hotel. The gym is average but the pool is amazing for a CBD hotel. There is a Goodlife gym just a short walk through the station that allows casual visits.

    Japan Tourism for independent travellers

We managed to secure decent flights on QF for the Sept / Oct school holidays. It will be my first time back to Japan for a long time and a first for the rest of the family. Does anyone have opinions on the following hotels? Tokyo: Keio Plaza or Hyatt Regency Shinjuku Kyoto: Dhawa Yura...

    Japan Accommodation

I’m hoping to get some advice from the collective experience of this community for accommodation in Japan for a family holiday next year (Sept/Oct). There will be three of us travelling, 2 adult and a 9 year old, so looking for options without the added expense of a second room. We don’t travel...

Whats the most amount of flights you took to reach your destination

This is giving me flashbacks from early in my career. What started as a simple work trip turned into "while you're there, can you go to this office" and "we have a project in the UK we want you to be part of for a few weeks". My return journey home compounded into this monster due to already...

Wine bottle bag (wine skin) in France

I've brought home bottles from various locations and there are a few options for suitable packing materials if you want to protect the bottles in your checked in. 1. Wine retailers. Depending on the number of bottles they'll usually have packaging / old cartons that are suitable. Don't listen...

    Packing Tips

I'll check tonight when I get home and will report back. The older model (Grey colour) that I have is actually 1.6A shared across the two USB ports. The newer model (White colour) seems to have 2.1A.

    Packing Tips

Yes, that's the one I have that I referenced in my earlier post. The main issue I have with it is the orientation of the plug - it only allows you to plug it in so the power board sits vertical. It will cause problems in places where the powerpoint is close to the floor.

    Packing Tips

Belkin also make a travel power board with surge protection but it's only 2 AU power and 2 USB. Mine came with 5 (I think) different international plug ends so the whole kit does take up a bit of room. I'm not convinced it's the best solution but at the time it was the only I could find with...

    Packing Tips

They do go on sale from time to time. I've had mine for 4 years and it still looks like new, my older camera backpack is about 10 years and still looks new. I haven't had the opportunity to use their lifetime warranty but I've heard from others that they haven't had any issues getting repairs.

In search of an Empire.Siam,Burma and Singapore.

Excellent TR drron. It's given me a lot of inspiration for the family trip to Burma we have planned for later this year. It's my parent's homeland and this trip will be the first time for us and only the second time for my parents since they emigrated in the 1960's.

You got it. It looks like my old card, just with a silver mag stripe at the bottom. I can take a side by side pic if anyone really wants it.

Corporate Credit Cards--Who pays if your employer goes under?

I was stuck with a fairly decent amount after my US based employer refused to pay out my expenses after closing the AU regional office..... Nothing could be done as I was employed by the regional office which was treated as a small business according to the industrial relations laws at the time.

    Buying Tumi in Australia

Hi everyone, I was hoping the the collective wisdom of the forum could provide some information on the cheapest and easiest way to buy Tumi products in Australia. I have seen the particular briefcase I'm after at Hunt Leather but their pricing seems a little excessive (when compared to US based...
