    Tiger Airways 1st BDAY SALE!!!

I did manage to find some "free" seats BLR-SIN-BLR, but with mandatory "taxes and fees" of nearly USD 200, it was no bargain. So no purchase.

    V Australia SYD-LAX $1399 Inc TAX

Thanks to the efforts of Qantas and Virgin, I was recently able to buy a ticket on UA (May-July) for LAX-SFO-SYD-SFO-LAX for AUD 1200 all in. Keep up the good work folks!

    Tiger Airways 1st BDAY SALE!!!

Just checked quite a few options. There are no "free" seats as far as I am concerned (just a few cheaper ones). I can't handle this TT subterfuge, so I am sticking with QF/DJ in the future. BTW, TT just emailed me that my 8.30 am CBR-MEL flight in Jan was now a 5 pm flight. How can they...

SQ charging for priority Y seats

I flew SQ C class SIN-SYD last week. It was the 00:30 departure so a breakfast is pretty much all you would expect (or want for that matter). Anyways, the only thing that looked at all half reasonable was the "American breakfast", but when I enquired I was told it was "off", as only 3 had...

    Self-funded WPs

I've been UA 1K (100,000 paid miles per annum) for well over 10 years, all paid for out of my own pocket, and I have not been employed in any way (even self-employed) since 2000. I typically fly SYD-SIN-NRT-LAX-LHR (upgraded C class) several times a year, which easily gets me the 100K miles...

The 10% and 20% off United discount certs are back

How do you get these Glen? I've been a 1K MM for over 10 years and have never seen one.

    Seven injured in airport smash

Perfectly good? I'm not sure how many others would agree with this description. Also, I don't think $14 one-way is a particularly attractive fare either. I can travel from Canberra to the SYD International terminal by Murray's express bus for $15. And even in expensive Tokyo, the train from...

QF LAX/SFO to AUS fr usd$760r/t

Your exchange rate seems to be a bit optimistic. XE.com currently shows it to be .6647, so USD 810 would equate to AUD 1218. Still very cheap when compared with fares ex Australia (which I rarely buy these days). Much better to get an award ticket (no fuel "taxes" with UA Mileage Plus)...

Virgin Blue - Feral to say the least...

They have the discretion to be civil and courteous, they just choose to not to be. It's just DJ's (lack of) training and HR principles that lets their 18 year old's get away with it. A good smack on the a*se wouldn't go amiss. A really poor quality organisation, which, hopefully, with the...

Virgin Blue bills tax payer - it should be the other way around!

If they're that desperate, they should just go under. Who needs such a poor quality "airline" anyway?

Will the crisis affect your travel.

I can certainly sympathise with that. I never thought I'd ever see the SGD higher than the Pacific Peso again, but here we are. It will probably mean that in future I will sleep (!) in the lounge or concourse at SIN airport, rather than pay my hard earned PP's for the transit hotel as I have in...

Are the worst seats always a given for Awards bookings?

I'm not sure why anyone would choose to travel on an airline where you can't actually select your own seats. Why leave it to the gods (or possibly incompetent Qantas staff)? Even AirNZ lets you choose your seat online months ahead of flying. And I can always get bulkhead/exit rows (if that's...

    A drift to Star Alliance

I travel SQ reasonably often and find that their pilots in general tend to give the undercarriages a very hard time. Just another symptom of the above? Note: I also fly UA an awful lot, and I truly think they have the best pilots in the world (at least in terms of flying and landing the metal).

    Someone LOST my bag!

But they might steal a camel suit from the suitcase (no, surely not!). And I haven't seen the word "insurance" mentioned in this thread so far.

Will the crisis affect your travel.

I have done this also, but decided to fly SFO-HNL as it is only 18,000 points vs 25,000 for LAX-HNL (quite a big difference, I thought). As all of my travel comes directly out of my own pocket (I have not worked for 10 years - my decision), I am quite sensitive to massive currency swings, such...

    Jetstar's International Sale(s)!

Not such a big deal. They're only mimicking Virgin Blue (DJ). Who'd you rather fly (I Know who I would), the price is the same.
