    Competition into CBR hots up!

Never been offered this on any Qantas flight IMHO.

    Competition into CBR hots up!

When you read the article, it doesn't actually say that Qantas plans to increase the number of jet services between CBR and SYD (and vv). It refers to a total of 48 jet flights weekly, and that's what it is right now. It's the Crash-8 flights that are being increased. Personally, I avoid...

    Mileage Run on Air NZ

Yes, I was given a hard time by the security people in BKK when checking in recently for a trip to SYD on UA. They couldn't get their heads around my itinerary which was BKK-NRT-SFO-LAX-SYD. They kept saying I should take the direct TG flight, and I kept saying it was a free ticket from...

    Velocity NAB 15,000 point offer!

I got the letter a few days ago and also applied. Strange that my wife, who is also a Velocity member, and earns considerably more than I do, didn't get a letter. Sexism lives on in Australia, I guess.

Comparison of some Australian online Foreign Exchange purchase sites

My advice is before you sign on the dotted line (or hand over your hard-earned cash) for forex in Australia, check the real exchange rate using a real-time site such as XE.com - The World's Favorite Currency and Foreign Exchange Site. If you're paying way over the odds, don't do it. You will...

    Bangkok In March

Have to agree that TG is the way to go ex MEL. Travel - Cheap flights, hotels, car rentals and holiday packages from Expedia Australia, for example, have an all-up fare of $920 in March, which is pretty good I think. Good times for flights ex Mel too: Melbourne (MEL) Depart 17:30 to Bangkok...

The real cost of travel insurance

Not sure why you say this. Have you ever tried the free travel insurance that goes with a quality credit card, such as ANZ Gold Visa? There may be all kinds of add-on extras with your paid insurance policy, but other than having to pay an excess for some claims, I'm happy with the coverage...

    SATS Lounge Singapore

I think that maybe you haven't been to the T1 SATS lounge for a little while. It got a major makeover fairly recently, improving its size and facilities considerably. It's a much nicer lounge now, IMHO. On the other hand, I find the SATS lounge in T2 to be quite pokey and down market. That's...

Yes, just got the email. A bit disappointing. Really nothing very new in it from my perspective.

    Tiger's Inaugural Sale

I just booked a TT flight from MEL to CBR for next May, and was quite surprised to see that the $39.95 fares are still around. Half the price of the train/bus and takes a tenth of the time. Can't be too bad.

    QANTAS's domestic sale(s)

Still it's a lot of money when you consider that you can fly Los Angeles (LAX) to Manchester NH (MHT) round-trip for half that. It's about the same distance. Airfares are very expensive in Australia (just try getting out of it).

    Express Path Immigration and Quarantine

I guess what all this seems to be saying is that F and C/J pax are very trustworthy and would never (even unwittingly) bring anything questionable into the country, whereas those awful people who travel in Y must be given the Spanish Inquisition every time. Does this make any sense from a...

    Longest Flight Taken

I've taken the TG JFK-BKK flight in business class on the A340-500. Quite comfortable but extremely boring, even with the AVOD. You will probably get to watch some movies you never dreamt of watching.

    Connections at LAX

I'm assuming that the OP has a special ticket to LAX that can't really be changed, otherwise why go to LAX at all. If my assumption is incorrect, why not fly direct ORD-SEA?

Tiger hits a snag: ‘proving’ flight postponed

Mark, I have flown Tiger many times, and their aircraft are impeccably maintained (by their main shareholder, Singapore Airlines). IMHO, they are better than DJ. This guy making these ridiculous comments doesn't seem to know what he is talking about, and his use of our national language...

    CBR-MAN Round Trip

    I'll be flying CBR-MAN and back shortly. If anyone's interested I'll post my experiences of the flights. I think most people would find my itinerary a bit "unusual": CBR-MEL (DJ) Y MEL-DRW (JQ) Y DRW-SIN (TR) Y SIN-HNL (UA) C via NRT HNL-IAD (UA) F IAD-LHR (UA) Y LHR-DUB (BD) Y DUB-MAN...
