Citibank's handling of credit card fraud

Sounds like a worry. I've had citibank cards for years but have never had any fraudulant transactions. Can you identify any unusual uses you had for the card that preceded it? I guess all it really takes is a dodgy cashier with a photographic memory who can remember the remaining numbers on...

Citibank - Non Existant Customer Service

I'm convinced most of them don't actually speak english. They're just trained to recognise key words and parrot pre-defined responses.

Future of air travel when fuel is $300/b

You can hope all you like but the fact is that global demand per day will soon outstrip supply per day and the price of oil will begin to rise exponentially.

[Offer Closed]: Citibank Gold NO ANNUAL FEE FOR LIFE

There is a minimum credit limit to have the gold card, 5K I think or maybe 6K. So I guess what happened in your case is you were only approved for a lower limit?

If they say it isn't free tell them you will not activate the card.

    Credit File

It could just be a case of someone else who has a very similar name applying for credit and it going on the wrong report. I would contact Veda and see if you can lodge some kind of dispute for the enquiries.

    Credit File

Do you know anyone dodgy who might be trying to apply for credit using your name?

    Good or Bad credit rating?

Yeah I'm thinking about it, but since I haven't heard much from D&B for the last 2 years I'm not really sure I want to remind them that I still exist and where I live/work for etc. I really have no intention at all of paying this 3 year old debt.

    Good or Bad credit rating?

Damn. A few years ago I had a $700 default from a particularly coughpy ISP that I refused to pay and to my surprise when I recently accessed my Veda file it wasn't listed. I guess it'll definitely be on the D&B report tho as I think they were the ones sending me the demands for payment.

Is veda advantage the only credit reporting agency in Australia?

Yes, like all URL links, it's used by clicking on it :)

[Offer Closed]: Citibank Gold NO ANNUAL FEE FOR LIFE

This is just sour grapes by Citibank imo. With all the millions they make in interest, fees, merchant fees etc you'd think they could just cop it on the chin from the occasional customer that doesn't want to rack up debt?!

[Offer Closed]: Citibank Gold NO ANNUAL FEE FOR LIFE

Re: SICK of Citibank I've got the mycard aswell. After a few years of having the 4K silver card they sent me an offer to upgrade to Gold and CLI to 6K. They now offer me regular credit limit increases in the mail (probably every 6 months I guess). BTW, if I were you i'd keep the silver...

Sorry to bump such an old thread, but i would just like to point out that Bendigo Bank cards have FREE cash advances and are perfect for this kind of thing.

    Reallocating Citi credit lines

For anyone with multiple citibank cards this is a real hoot. You can call up and ask to 'reallocate' available credit limits from one card to another. I was able to move 5000 CL from my 18% interest gold card to the lower-interest 10.49% Clear Visa which means I can now consolidate all my...

    Citibank Readycredit / Personal credit

Citibank are often willing to do balance transfers in the form of a 'convenience cheque', which you can have made out to yourself and put straight in the bank. Best way to find out is to call and ask.

Funds Transfer - 'Send me a cheque'?

These convenience cheques are even better than I thought. Going by my statement, it seems when you make payments the money actually comes off your normal high-interest rate balance, you don't pay down your 'promo-rate' balance first. The interest you pay on your promo-rate balance is also...

    Citibank Online Login Problems?

Working okay here. Very occasionally do I get that sort of error but if I try again a few minutes later it'll log in no problems. I've had my card about a month too.

Funds Transfer - 'Send me a cheque'?

Nah it should be good. I'm fairly sure it's counted as a balance transfer except paid out as a cheque, plus, the standard rates for that card are 9.99% for purchases AND cash advances, so that's about as bad as it could get. They won't be owning my cough for too much longer :D

Funds Transfer - 'Send me a cheque'?

Just got off the phone with Citi. When I asked about the MYCARD he offered me a convenience cheque at 6.9% for 6 months (which I can then pay off the mycard with). 17.99 to 6.99 is a pretty good deal considering they already owned my cough anyway so I'm pretty happy with that :)
