    Us Dollar Account in Australia?

We have a USD account with Suncorp Metway Treasury in Brisbane, and I believe the treasury section of most Australian banks would similarly offer $US accounts. We can move money to and from our $A account with no fees and at the prevailing exchange rate, or extremely close to it. Until recently...

BNE to India & Japan September 13, 2 pax, some J

Thanks for all these suggestions, and apologies for not replying sooner - I was called away suddenly and now away from home. I like the idea of the OW Circle Asia and will look into it, but I suspect aikman's solution of separate tickets will win the day. Will respond further after I return home.

Rental Car Excess Insurance Cover - Westpac Black Card (Zurich)

I certainly had a faster claims payment with Chubb travel insurance - the excess claim was paid within a week of submitting it, albeit with a copy of the CC statement. One unpleasant surprise was to find that towing charges are excluded from the excess in the T & Cs of the rental car companies...

    India - Domestic Airlines

I thought Jet had rather new planes compared with Indian Airlines, so the other two must be pretty good. My experiences of Jet over about ten years of flying there were all quite good - service OK, flights more or less on time, FAs reasonably personable. IA experience was universally bad on all...

    Too cheap to fly fast

It was certainly a brilliant aeroplane, but very noisy. I remember working between the runways at SYD on its first (and only?) visit when it landed. Even for those days of noisy planes, it was far worse than most - ears rang for hours afterwards. Still have a photo of its take-off in the dusty...

    Travel Allowances ATO ruling

Thanks for finding that. I watched the ATO site time out for 30 minutes before giving up today. We have always taken it to apply from time of leaving home to time of return for any trip. The accommodation rates allowed for country centres always seem on the light side for any half-decent motels...

    Failing to vote while overseas

I've regularly been overseas when they called, closed polls, or held the election (usually all of the above), as have some of my offspring. A reply back to the AEC from me alone has worked for all of us, so if you have a relative back here who can call or write to the AEC that should be the end...

First Time on the ATR - Front or Back?

I prefer front (rows 1-3) as having slightly less noise and more comfortable ride in bumpy flights. Certainly confused by auto allocation to row 17 the first time flying in one of these, until walking out and seeing the rear door only. Prefer them to the DASH-8, even the Q400. And much prefer...

Best annual TI policy to replace Amex Platinum policy

Chubb Insurance annual policy through our work broker suits us. Reasonable premium, wide cover, low excess, quick claim payments are my experience with them. Would recommend checking them. Cheers
