What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

I didn't have to pay income tax on minimum wage with LITO. Has that changed?

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

This is a pretty good description of how high our minimum wage is. Bear in mind this is the absolute worst case scenario for an employed person in Australia and any increase makes it that much harder to become employed. $450 of the $680 easily covers all essentials (my utilities +...

My Worst Airport - Tullamarine, Melbourne. What's Yours?

I'd rate pretty much every airport in the USA below MEL. The funniest thing about coming home to an Aussie airport is noticing the Aussie accent. Hits you like a ton of bricks from all angles. Then a day or two later it seems perfectly normal again.

Enter Schengen area with a one-way ticket

Ditto. My last 2 entries (into CDG and MAD) - I hadn't booked anything out when I arrived. No issues.

    Sheraton brand is tired

That Huzhou one is great! Also spent 2 weeks at the one in Chongqing, which is amazing. It's an exceptional brand in China.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

Cheers for the hat tip! Getting comfortable with the commute is the trick (or better still finding a job outside the city). When you can start looking at places to rent around $300, the rest is easy.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

I did it for years up until about 10 years ago. Saved maybe 20% of it in the latter part when I moved out of the city and got comfortable with the train commute. I don't intend to do it again but it was hardly the worst. Most people do it until they are ~25. In fact, excluding international...

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

We still on the Aussie Dollar? I don't know if I'd go as far as no minimum wage like Iso suggested, but we are miles ahead of the rest of the world in terms of the rate which makes it very hard to justify hiring extra workers who can't possibly pull in enough revenue to justify the minimum wage...

    Trip to China - advice

The Badaling section of the Great Wall, about an hour or so above Beijing, is very well maintained and scenic. Ideally check it out on a weekday to avoid crowds. You'll get a lot of photo requests with locals there. Most neighbourhoods have their own quirks. Street stalls are good for food...

    Platinum one status reached

If you want to significantly reduce taxes and don't mind an extra stop, I'd look into Fiji Airways via Nadi. Ie. SYD-NAN-LAX-HNL-NAN-SYD

Qantas says Jetstar doesn't levy credit card surcharges - but a 'comfort fee'

Or by price beating another airline. Then you can use your cc for free.

You can avoid it and still pay by cc by price beating Tiger over live chat too.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

You might be right. It'll resolve itself when interest rates and subsequently the AUD head back up. Until then, we have to deal with it. If they keep going the other way, expect bigger extremes before reversion.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

That'll take getting the Aussie dollar back well over parity and interest rates back around 7-8%. Seems a long game. The former may not be completely necessary if foreign buyer restrictions are enforced. While the rest of the world sees our prices 25% cheaper than a few years ago and we can pay...

Yeah it was priced in already.

Which of these 2 formulas do you use to calculate value of your FF redemptions?

Just on this - if it was in reference to bankwest transaction ac - there's no credit card involved. It's parking money in that ac or savings which earns 0.4 pts per $100 per day or ~1c per $100 per day. So $250 (minus marginal tax rate) or 10,000 points depending on which you choose for ease of...

Ah yes, I did misread it. Cheers. That makes much more sense.

What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

So they cut again, I guess to the surprise of no-one. The last statement is interesting: "At today's meeting, the Board judged that the inflation outlook provided the opportunity for monetary policy to be eased further, so as to reinforce recent encouraging trends in household demand."...

    When is airfare cheap? MEL-WLG

MEL-WLG $169 on Air NZ in Oct. 189 with bag. Prices vary but that's pretty decent. Funnily enough the ad came up on top of this thread

    Double status credits on qantas

Absolutely. Why not! I'm pretty sure that's right. He's qualified in March so that's valid for the rest of this membership year + next (to July 2016). The Aug flights will retain for the following membership year (to July 2017). And if he does get Gold by July 31 2016, that will be valid from...
